Does anyone know where to look up what the
Foxwell
Scanner codes refer to. Please help if you know what the following codes mean.
I have a 2006
Boxster S
18,000 miles and I am getting the following codes.
Front Control System:-
8042 Implausible signal - Front luggage compartment unlocking
POSIP Control System
C152 No Display Communication PSM control unit - drive
Rear Control System:
C128 No Communication - Communication PAS comfort control unit
Any help would be appriciated
Offhand - nope. 8042? Was there a letter associated with it?
What issues are you experiencing and what model
Foxwell
did you get these error messages from? From the descriptions it sounds like CAN-BUS issues, but these sort of codes can be seen if your factory radio (headunit) is replaced by one that doesn't support CAN-BUS. They are typically in that case harmless.
I have a
Foxwell NT710
. Codes are exactly as I show them. The car is 100% stock. I tested the battery and it shows that it is healthy. The state of charge was 60% so i charged 100% cleared codes and will drive and see what i get for codes. Thanks for responding to my thread.
How did you charge and test to 100%? Did you check voltage after a few hours of leaving the battery standing?
Thank you for responding. I have a cheap battery tester. All tests came back good, State of Health, Cranking volts, Battery good etc - except for State of Charge = 60%. So I used my
battery tender
to charge the battery and then rerun the battery test - all good and Sate of Charge = 100%. I then cleared the codes. I disconnected the negative terminal for a few minutes and then drove the car 15 miles on the highway. All original codes disappeared but now i have code 4444 steering angle sensor not initialized??? Any advise? Thank you.
Cheap battery tester is fine, but, again, when did you test it? If it was tested soon after a charge cycle, then it's likely not a valid reading of 100%. Most testers like this try to show SOC by voltage. A lead acid battery drops voltage after a few minutes, and even more after a few hours. This is why any voltage-based test must be done after hours of letting it sit...
In the end, I'd go by the age of the battery more than anything else. If it's older than 5 years, then I would expect it's probably weak. If it's EVER been dead, then I'd certainly replace it first, as a weak battery causes all sorts of weird problems on these cars.
Thanks for the info, i did not know this. I will charge now and leave for several hours and test again. If not perfect I will replace the battery - probably will replace the battery anyway for peace of mind. Thanks again
I charged the battery to 100% and overnight it went down to 60%. I have replaced the battery and all old codes have disappeared . I now have a steering lock code but i am sure it will go away. Thank you for solving my issue.
Thanks for posting the resolution to the issue - it's postings like this that show so dramatically the difference between Facebook and a good forum!
Agreed, and I also appreciate your detailed report and proper test of the battery, KUDOS!
I will certainly reference this for other users, because no matter how often I mention proper testing, people don't do it properly and miss such an obvious and easy to fix issue.
And, of course, I'm glad it fixed the problem for you!
