Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all. Anyone replaced their exhaust boxes themselves? I did see a video on YTube and looked not too bad although did cut pipes/clamp to get off. would plan to put on axle stands and remove wheels to ease the job. Any thoughts/comments appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Expect a few seized studs so allow twice as much time as in the slick video!

POST 3Original post

Heating stud nuts to a nice cherry red before trying to remove would help.

POST 4Original post

Hi Penetrating fluid, centre-punch the middle of the studs several times to shock them, impact torque driver with 1/2 socket as opposed to 13mm if there really rusty can help as it's a tighter fit, The issue is normally with the corroded stud within the manifold area, I did manage to get all of mine out in one piece but a couple were borderline, corroded nuts on the turbo were removed with a long reach sharp centre-punch, but then I waited until mine only had a few threads left with no real nut to speak of. Good luck Karl
