Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Hi, I did a PPI on a car I'm interested in and the report came back on a PDF. There are lots of PCM 2.1 codes but an aftermarket upgrade was made. Is it fair to assume this is what triggers the fault code? Second question: How do I translate codes into something I can look up? I signed up for ALLDATA Diy believing I could cut and paste but it doesn't seem to translate. Here's one example roughly formatted from the PDF sent to me: Airconditioning 0303 Part Number: 99765322104 3 Faults Present: C131 Communication gateway (CAN comfort) C141 Communication PCM 2.1 8023 Outside air/recirculation air flap motor *** ***Is this code concerning? Thanks for any guidance!

POST 2Original post

This is in a 987? Those are errors often seen if an aftermarket radio has been installed and can easily be ignored. The outside air/recirc flap can be checked by pressing the button and listening for the change in sound as it switches from one intake source to another. Communication errors - are awfully common on these cars, and if it isn't an aftermarket radio, it might just be a low battery voltage condition at some time. If it was me - I'd clear the codes - run the car and see if they reappear. Remember to show us photos when you get the car! We love pictures!

POST 3Original post

Thanks Still hoping for the car but rest of PPI came back with variable paint meter readings. I started a thread to hear the group's advice. Not sure how to think about the whole thing!
