I'm adding a bidet seat, can you imagine finding out the GFI markings were nonsense using a device like that?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, I am purchasing (already put a deposit) a 2006 987.1 Boxster S from an Audi dealer. The car was just traded in and has 24,700km (I am in Canada). When the dealer bought the car, they did a used car inspection as a part of trade procedure and the result turned out good. They touched all major areas and put a new set of four tires , oil&filter change, and some other minors. Do you guys think I still need to bring the car to a third party inspection (maybe Porsche specialist)? If you think so, what should I ask for? Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

POST 2Original post

First thought: some dealers are unscrupulous. So even if they found something, they might not disclose it. Put another way, it is in their interest not to even look for it. Their inspection is for the big stuff that would be discovered quickly by a buyer either before or shortly after purchase. You know, the kind of thing that they have to fix under their own ‘satisfaction guarantee’ when it pops up 24 hours after you drive it off their lot. Superficial stuff. The idea of a PPI is to have a neutral third party inspect, whom is reporting to you and representing your interest. Not the dealer, who‘s interest is in selling you the car at maximum profit. But also to have a shop who has seen dozens or hundreds of these cars, knows what to look for, puts it on a lift, reads the fault codes and revs, etc. You basically just want to find a Porsche shop that offers PPIs and ask them what it includes. To be sure, a PPI is no guarantee. But it certainly can provide some additional data for you to use in your decision and even negotiation.

POST 3Original post

Just want to weigh in on PPI's and related home inspections. My house was inspected and of course inspected by the county code enforcement. I've been here six years now. Today, quite by accident, I discovered the two ganged GFI outlets that were supposed to have a GFI breaker were on a regular breaker. I don't mean to get off in the weeds here but my point is what RM said: "a PPI is no guarantee" is 100% accurate. I'm adding a bidet seat, can you imagine finding out the GFI markings were nonsense using a device like that? Yikes.

I would guess the dealer of that stature is aware of the main items (and we all know what they are)... the engine looks dry I’m sure that’s as far as that goes... then it’s just the usual
