I know I'll need to get the multimeter out and do the work but I was hoping that someone may have a useful suggestion or two.
I purchased the entire kit from Crutchfield so I knew I had the
Bose
hookup bits and have seen other people report success. I'm thinking its just a dumb crossed wire or something when I soldered the pigtail to the ISO connector pigtail.
What would the main culprit or two be if no sound, bad connection on the "amp on" wire?
I'm also getting a PSM fault now, but I'm hoping that stems from the battery disconnect. I haven't driven at all, just started the car up.
If I don't find it in the
next
hour it will be Friday before I have a chance to get back into it. Plenty of time for the great minds here to possibly have a eureka moment.
Thanks for any and all support.
I don't know how you expect any useful help when you supplied no useful information. What kit? What head unit? Does it come with specific instructions for a
987.1
? Does the unit power up and show anything on the display? Or is it just sound from speakers that is missing?
I don't have
Bose
but I've read some have had volume level problems unless they adjust the level before removing the OEM radio.
Once you've provided basic information I'm sure you'll get some help from
Bose
owners
As far as the PSM fault, that is caused by the battery being disconnected, but will go away upon driving a short distance. But yes, before anyone can proceed to offer assistance you will need to provide much more information.
Because you bought it from Crutchfield, they will stand behind their product. Their technical support team is fantastic!
There will be one rather major problem though: the Metra dash kit they sell is garbage. Trash. Horrible. Read the instructions that come with the kit, removing it once it's in place is a NIGHTMARE. If you haven't put in place yet, (and hopefully you haven't or you're in for one wild ride), get your dash kit from cai-store.com
I've used several dash kits over the last 15 years of Cayman ownership and most were difficult to remove. My original EuroMotorSpeed kit at least was designed to unlock if you knew the trick. But it didn't fit well with my new ATOTO unit. I bought the Metra but it looked impossible to detach without damaging it, the radio, or the surrounding trim. I'm currently using the Metra one but, anticipating future removal issues, I trimmed off much of the plastic locking catches that hold it into place. I also used heat to bend them some to reduce tension in the tabs to make it easier to remove. So now it comes off with only moderate force.
Finally got time to track this down and it was zero continuity with the remote/accesory wire joint I did which routed into the
bose
converter box.
Once fixed things are now making the right noises at the right time. now to get it installed
