Suggestion

DMH-W2770NEX receiver, however the installer tells me that the SXV300 XM tuners are incompatible with the factory XM antenna so I would have to use the supplied SXV300 magnetic antenna, which is a bit ugly and seems unneccessary.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I have factory NAVI and XM on my 2009 987S and have been limping along with a Garmin unit for Nav because the factory upgrade for these cars is so expensive and the dealer cannot tell me how up-to-date the maps are. For this reason I am seriously considering a Pioneer DMH-W2770NEX receiver, however the installer tells me that the SXV300 XM tuners are incompatible with the factory XM antenna so I would have to use the supplied SXV300 magnetic antenna, which is a bit ugly and seems unneccessary. I confirmed this incompatibility with a Crutchfield tech. Does anyone have info on this problem? Installer suggests using XM iPhone app, which might work as long as phone is within reach of a cellular data signal. I hate to fix one problem, only to break another. This doesn't seem like rocket science, perhaps I can splice the XM antenna cable? -MN987S

POST 2Original post

Contact cai-store.com they have a custom GPS and Sirius XM antenna mount that makes them completely invisible!

POST 3Original post

installer says that that location (just below windshield cowling) has been problematic in his experience. Of course this is without the CAI-Store bracket. I assume the bracket allows antenna to be much closer to cowling.

POST 4Original post

I have the bracket on my Cayman . It works perfectly, and you can't even see it. Another option is I've seen people put the antenna inside of one of the a pillars.

POST 5Original post

Thanks for both of your replies! It helps to have some real world feedback.

POST 6Original post

I know this is old. But I just did this. I replaced that tired old pcm 3.1 with an alpine system. Added that exact xm unit. And yes the connector is different however it comes right off. There’s a pink locking clip. It’s flat. Pry it up a little then pull it off. The rest of the plug will come off. then plug the factory xm antennae right into the xm connector. Save the parts if you ever want to put the original radio in. My alpine uses the original car radio antenna(with adapter), original gps antenna(plugs right in) and the original xm antenna(with a simple minor mod). I didn’t want to change the head unit but that thing is a nightmare. first I put in that wonky Isudar CarPlay , then I started getting the intermittent reboot loop. Lost my maps. Replaced the hard drive. Didn’t fix it. Then I finally tried to do the firmware update with hopes that would correct it. Except The unit wouldn’t read my cd and would not eject it. No matter what I did. Last straw. I was kinda upset at first going to aftermarket but only took a day to realize all the functionality I was missing.
