About 6 months ago my
PCM
V3 started crashing and rebooting non-stop. I searched this forum and found that this is a serious problem on
PCM
V3.1. Indeed there is a class action suit for this. But sadly not for this model. Typical.
Well I have had the same issue and have found the same resolution. Replace the failed HDD Hardrive (40G) with a Solid State Drive SSD.
Has anyone else had this issue? If you are struggling. I have my original HDD out and for a short period will help you by making a clone.
The options:
Have Porsche buy, install and code program new radio to your car. $3000
Buy a used/new one and have Porsche code program it $2000
Buy a used one and don't use blue tooth or navigation $1000
Buy and aftermarket radio, lose Porsche brand. $800-1500+
Try this option. Keep your PCM v3, swap out the hard drive with an SSD that I clone.
let's talk maybe I can help
Also, report your PCM v3 failure to Porsche, this needs to be a class action suit. A radio should not fail, nor cost this much to replace.
Based in Texas
You probably already heard there is a class action suit, and it seems to have already been settled. My current plan is to look into the Erisin solution. I have not tried it but it looks good (don't they all). Best of luck. I try to listen to the exhaust
Does your solution work with any PCM V3? It doesn't care about the VIN#.. does the navigation work? And do you know when Porsche went from V3 to 3.1 - and how can we tell the difference (somewhere in the menus for it I think there is an option to show the version..)
Hi, I also have a 40 GB disk, but unfortunately it died. Now I'm looking for a clone in order to burn it to my new disk, this is a problem. here on the forum I found only a clone from a 120 GB disk, it cannot fit on a 40 GB disk))) . Perhaps you have made a backup copy of the disk (for example, in a clone) and will be able to send me an email download link? I would be grateful.
