Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I am attempting to diagnose a few issues with a new to me 987.1 Boxster . Cruise Control, Chrono Sport, and Sport button do not work. In my research I have found that "resetting" the instrument cluster may be necessary. I see the option is available in PIWIS & Foxwell and wonder if any of you have experience with this. I'm trying to learn what exactly "Reset" of the Instrument Cluster does. I'm hesitant to try it before learning more for fear that it could wipe/delete important programming that only the dealer can fix. However, I'm hopeful that Reset could get the cluster out of a funky state. Please share if you have any experience with "Reset" and 987 modules.
