Apparently after a repair (body shop) the wire was not connected properly (?) and became disconnected over time.

Once that was changed out, I had dash lights as well as license plate lights.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

I have an '05BS. The license plate lights are both out, and there doesn't seem to be any power going to them. The fuse is good and the other lights on that circuit are working fine, so I suspect a wiring connection has come loose? Does anyone know how/where those wires are routed and is there easy access? My bumper was taken off 4 years ago (right before I purchased the car) to re-paint due to a few scratches in transit, but I haven't had any problems until now. Thoughts? (P.S. Yes, I did a thorough search and only pulled up post where people were frying fuses with LED replacements )

POST 2Original post

This is going to sound odd, but do you have dash lights? The same thing happened to my (04BS) and I didn't have dash lights. All the fuses were fine. It was the headlight switch. Once that was changed out, I had dash lights as well as license plate lights. Just a thought.

POST 3Original post

I have dash lights, headlights , fog lights, etc. The only thing that I have lost is the GREEN LED indicating my front fog lights are on. I thought I might have fried that by directly powering my HID fog lights off the battery . The ORANGE LED for the rear fog light works perfectly. All the lights in the car, inside and our, seem to work and have been working fine for years.

POST 4Original post

I'm going to try a new headlight switch - wish me luck.

POST 6Original post

Old post.. but I see that a lot of these threads just die off. I had the same problem, license plate lights were out. Fuse A5 should be the one for those lights, but mine was A8 that was out. (7.5amp). Check that fuse before you replace everything!

POST 7Original post

Ha! I realized I never updated this thread. Ended up pulling off the bumper to discover the wire was disconnected. Apparently after a repair (body shop) the wire was not connected properly (?) and became disconnected over time. NOTE: I needed the new headlight switch anyway (the front fog green LED was out).

POST 9Original post

Thanks for posting your resolution. I'm sure it will help the next guy with this problem.

POST 10Original post

On a side note, these LEDs work great for the license plate lights. Pure white (not bluish), no errors. 6418 Led Festoon Bulb 36mm 6000k
