Question to the brain bank. My 996.1, began stalling after coming to a stop. Finally hooked the Durometric and found Bank 1 cam position to be -13.17. Bank 2 is -4.11. These were 0.0 and 3.0 right after my complete 3.8 build 10k miles ago. Does this seem like a Variocam tensioner/solenoid failure or? Thanks

So this is a 5-chain engine? If so, highly possible the variocam chain tensioner for are toast. What did you replace when you rebuilt your engine ? chains ? tensioners at the left/right/bottom of the engine? Variocam tensioner at the top of the cam shafts?

It's not unusual. Bank 1 has failed, bank 2 is within specs, but should be addressed.

yeah but bank 2 shifted 7 degrees in 10k miles. not saying it isn�t actuators but root cause should be diagnosed before assuming it is. If the cam timing slipped that can be corrected without dropping engine.

Thanks for the input. I'm pretty much resigned to pull the engine as it is much easier to work on it out of the car. All the chains, guides replaced, the actuators were cleaned so I'll be looking for the kit to rebuild those. Hopefully I wont need to split the case this time.
