Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Early aero kits used urethane to attach the skirts, not adhesive tape.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

One of the side skirts of my '99's aerokit had come slightly loose and was getting small rocks and debris inside of it. In an effort to clean that out and see if we could reattach it better, my father (a retired mechanic) and I removed it. However, we were rather surprised with how it was attachedit seems a little janky and messy (

Any suggestions? Thanks!
Thanks for posting all the pics! I have a bit of damage on my factory aero skirt and the body shop said they don't want to remove it to repair as it usually damages the part and a new one is $$$ and then still needs to be painted.
My 99 C2 with factory aero fell off a floor jack and cracked the left side skirt. I ordered a new one from Porsche. When the Porsche Certified shop went to pull off the cracked skirt, the underside looked like yours. They ended up cleaning all the "black goop" off and reattaching the newly painted skirt with body cement. It came out looking great but it is not coming off again without major effort and probably not in one piece.
Really clean the skirts and underbody up, then use 3M thin body tape and the factory attachment hardware. Why mess with what works for 20+ years? I concur the whole skirt set up is surprisingly flimsy. When I put the aero kit on my .2 I was worried I was effing things up. But, I followed the tech bulletin to the letter and the durability is without question.
I have a set of OEM Porsche skirts for the 04 C2, about to test fit them and paint them, do you have the Tech bulletin for the installation. I could use one.
Good point…oops. I think my full kit had paper instructions from factory via Suncoast. Maybe they can get you a copy? The .1 aerokit TSB 6315 wasn’t very useful. I also think Renntech may get you some answers. Sorry I can’t be more help.
And just thinking Rhonda at FVD might be able to land her hands on the instructions.
Early aero kits used urethane to attach the skirts, not adhesive tape. That is the black goop in your original post. My replacement came with the adhesive strips but it would not hold so that is why they went back to the adhesive. I would agree that tape is a better option if you can get it to work.
