Can anyone with the PCM option take a few assorted photos of the interface? Also any description of its usefulness would be nice. I've read the 2.0 Manual and I'm worried it's enough out of date to be invalid. I'm really torn on whether to get it or not. I was talking to someone who has a Nav system on their RangeRover and they told me of a cool feature when the vehicle runs low on fuel. It immediately shows the closest gas stations with logos. Here are some specific questions (if anyone knows the answers) 1) Is the Map data really from 2004? If so, how can they sell us such old data? 2) How much are annual upates? 3) Does it only have the 'overhead 2D' view or is there a 3D view? 4) Is it a touch-screen? 5) Anyone know who the OEM is?

I was also very torn on that decision. But my wife made it for me. She bought me a new garmin streetpilot 330c. This thing is awsome and it was only about $600. It's touch screen. I can now use it in all the cars I have. You can get update via the computer whenever they do new mappings. Good luck.

I have the same system on my Cayenne, but CD based. Cayman is DVD based with unit under the seat. The data is updated annually and is deveoped and supplemented by Navistar. My system is 2D, not 3D and is not touch screen. If you want an annual update, Porsche does not offer it. You must go directly to Navistar and my most recent update was $200. It is surprisingly accruate with great detail even on side streets. It is far from the best system on the market. Lexus has the best in my opinion, it has touch screen and you can add your own locations on the map. Range Rover is also better than Porsche as is MB. The Porsche system is below par. That being said, I ordered it on my Cayman because I travel enough to utilize navigation and I think in 2 years most cars will have it and it will add to resale, maybe not in price, but it marketability. I also think it makes the dash look cleaner.
$200 is about right - that is what it costs for the Acura MDX which I think is the best system because it works about the same as the Lexus, which I also like, but the MDX will let you change destinations while the car is moving. Of all of the Japanese manufacturers, Honda motors is the only one that lets you do that. PCM will also let you change destinations while driving - a big, big plus for my wife!
