I have tried simply changing the battery on the key fob and although the led lights on the keyfob when I press the buttons, the car does not unlock the central locking.

Is there a way of testing the chip, to confirm it has failed, and are there any independant Porsche specialists that can provide the necessary parts and code them to the car, other than a Porsche main dealer ?

Suggestion

I'm not sure of a way of testing the chip but some things to try are listed on the following.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I have a keyfob where apparently the keyhead needs to be replaced according to Porsche at a cost of £245 pounds. From my research so far, the keyfob seems to have a small PCB, with some micro switches on it, a battery on the reverse side and I think a small chip mounted near the key blade as described in the post " Design Key - Key Head Replacement " I have tried simply changing the battery on the key fob and although the led lights on the keyfob when I press the buttons, the car does not unlock the central locking. Is there a way of testing the chip, to confirm it has failed, and are there any independant Porsche specialists that can provide the necessary parts and code them to the car, other than a Porsche main dealer ? Many thanks Barry

POST 2Original post
