Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Repair entire system' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check dash light or codes, none' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Reason I was doing a calibration was I popped off the clam shell latch cover when I was cleaning under the clam shell, I popped it back on no problems no broken parts

Granted this is in a 997.1, but I was able to successfully use my Durametric to calibrate the top after my hydraulic cylinder replacement.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This is my experience with the software Durametric. They claim in the web in clear english they can calibrate the top on a 996, my experience would be different

No check dash light or codes, none

This mistake was now causing the convertible top hook to try to latch with the windshield about 2"-3" to early......"out of calibration".
Bought Durametric specifically to calibrate the top, couldn't be simpler task
I plugged it in and it could not calibrate, did absolutely nothing
Durametric sent me a revised update to try, it would close and open but would not complete calibration
I then send them logs a couple of times for the engineers to view. was told engineers were working on it
Weeks passed and I was still told they were working on it
I spent a bunch of my time and money trying to diagnosis a problem that did not exists
Long story short I took it to my local Porsche Dealership and they calibrated it in 15min with no other problems to be found, operates perfect, always has,........$200.00 later and the cost of the Durametric out of pocket
If you are buying Durametric to calibrate your top, please beware. would like to hear from other who were able too or you were not able to calibrate their tops with Durametric
Maybe my car is a freak or maybe someone is trying to sell something that does not do what it is advertised to do?
I have no issues calibrating the 2002 or the 2004 C2, I found and read the calibration with Durametric has to be started with the top in the down position. I've read a lot of the MK1 having issues doing the calibration and not working.
Hi RJDPorsche,
I had the same problem trying to calibrate with a Foxwell NT710. What Porsche dealer did you go to and what did it cost?
Thanks for your post!
I went to the my local Porsche dealership in Winnipeg and they charged me $200.00. That was a simply calibration and no other codes or problems, maybe 20 min job. If you are buying Durametric to calibrate a top, I would say not to do it. My experience with Durametric was a joke, they have no idea what they are doing when it comes to the top calibration
Granted this is in a 997.1, but I was able to successfully use my Durametric to calibrate the top after my hydraulic cylinder replacement. If I recall (it's been a few months), you start the sequence with the top fully down, and it'll do a full cycle of everything from there.
I know, but I wouldnt look at it that way. Two hundred bucks aint bad at all. Who else wants to mess with the top, risk screwing or up, or risk not being an expert?
We paid a kid across the street to feed our pet aquatic turtle while we were away. We paid him $30 for 4 days, only 2 trips to our house, 5 min each trip. Its not like he can make $180/hr doing this routinely.
