Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
If so, it is most likely a problem with one of the door lock microswitches.
Leading evidence: 'problem' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'problem' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Test with a pst2 (porsche system tester)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

btw, roof going up and down using the remote control - is that standard function?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Double-locking with the key didn't work, but I confess that I didn't try double-locking with the remote.
Sorry you may have seen this question elsewhere but newbie didn't post in the right place i need some help as my car automatically unlocks when you try to lock it and the delaer can't find the fault as it is intermitant
(2001 996 C2)
has anyone come across this before please?
Do you get a double-beep from the alarm horn when it happens? If so, it is most likely a problem with one of the door lock microswitches.

Yes it does double bleep but if I lock it by pressing the fob twice quickly ( ie arm without the movement sensors ) then it locks fine do you think it still sounds like the micro's
Did the dealer do a test with a PST2 (Porsche System Tester)? If so, it would show up a fault in the alam unit memory. If it isn't showing a fault, then it's a bit of a mystery. Intermittent faults always are.
When I had the microswitch fault in my car I could only lock it with the 3-turn emergency locking procedure. Double-locking with the key didn't work, but I confess that I didn't try double-locking with the remote.
Hi there, i has a similar issue but for no reason it went away so sorry not very helpful there. It would be nice to know what did happen.
btw, roof going up and down using the remote control - is that standard function? Mine doesn’t seem to do that.

If it locks, and then immediately unlocks with a beep from the alarm horn, then it is likely to be a microswitch within the door lock assembly. It is common for the microswitch which senses if the door is open or closed to break. The alarm thinks the door is still open, and so it won't allow the door to lock.
As a temporary measure, use the emergency locking procedure. Either press the lock button on the fob 3 times, or turn the key to the lock position and back 3 times.
