Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I recently installed a tranzit blue Bluetooth kit in my C4S. It works well ??. However, I have had a flat battery since I fitted it. I don’t know how old the battery is. I followed a video on you tube and took the power from the live to the cdr23. Is that still live with the car locked? I can still find the tranzit blu transmitter on my phone with the car locked. If so, where should I take the live feed from to avoid a potential power drain? cheers Phil

POST 2Original post

Yes, the power feed to the CDR is a permanent feed. The easiest way to get a switched supply is to use a fuse tap on one of the fuses that is a switched supply. Fuse E8 is a popular choice.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you Richard. I was at the limit of my electrical prowess when I followed the YouTube video and spliced onto the live feed to the radio! How do I tap onto a fuse? Do I have to lead a wire from my bluetooth device to the back of the fuse box? Or do I find a suitable live wire as it travels somewhere else in the car from the fusebox? Thanks for any help Phil

POST 4Original post

This is what I meant by a fuse tap: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261563240343 Substitute the tap for fuse E8, and insert the fuse for E8 into the tap, along with another fuse for your bluetooth device. Run a wire from the bluetooth device to the wire on the fuse tap, and bob's your uncle.
