Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi Everyone, New here and new to my 08' 987.1 Cayman , which has been great so far! I've been in the process of retrofitting LED 's into the interior lights, and am now on the dome (map?) light. I was able to pull it out and take off the tinted grey lens cover, but NON of the T10/194 (LED equiv.)/168/2825 bulbs I've tried have worked... These same bulbs have fit every other T10 housing, so I am starting to wonder if my dome housing is the problem part. The bulb fitment issue seems to be that the stems of new LED bulbs are too thick to slide into the fitting. I guess my question boils down to - has anyone else come across this? Is my easiest option to reorder a new dome light housing, hoping the bulbs fit? Has anyone found a certain T10 LED bulb that exactly matches the footprint of the halogen OEM installed ones? Below is a photo of my housing: TIA! Note: I've done a lot of forum surfing and have explored most of the recommended options already, hoping for a solution other than continuing to order MORE packs of LED's online... lol.

Hey @kipnieu , that's a common headache with LED swaps! It's so frustrating when the stems on the new T10 bulbs are just a bit too thick for the dome light housing. Have you considered gently filing the plastic opening on the housing, or are you trying to avoid any permanent modifications? Sharing which path you'd prefer might help someone suggest either a specific skinny bulb or the best way to make an adjustment.
