I have a Gen 1 S and am currently running the full EVOMS RS370 application. I have realized real power gains over the stock design and
Fabspeed
will be dyno'ing my car
next
month on the 13th at their Cars and Coffee event, which should be a great time. Today, I am still looking for even more naturally aspirated (NA) power. Installing the 997 S intake manifolds is another mod I have come across on this forum which sounds like it belongs with my current configuration, again opening up the intake side (existing - EVOMS V flow high-flow filter, IPD Competition Plenum 82mm,
GT3
RS throttle body) and imparting reportedly between 8 and 12 more HP. Does anyone have any input, experience with and/or can actually perform the install for me? Is this something worth 'doing' while keeping the car NA? Ballpark cost with install? Thanks in advance!
I would talk to Evolution and see what they think................
Remember, all the pieces, parts, and software work togehter as a unit, so you want to ensure that you don't undo what you have already done by something that does not match up with everything else. (I have an RS350 set up)
I would also like to know what the power gains are from 997-S Intake Manifolds.
I want to do this mod but haven't really found much info on it. If it's proven power gains like the IPD competition plenum w/
GT3
TB, Ill do it.
I heard somewhere is over 2K in parts and is like 7 hours to install. I hope I'm wrong though!
I was quoted a while back from Justin at Rebel Rock (Forum Sponsor) for a way better price including labor than that. All I'm interested here is that it WILL be a power gain and not money flushed down the toilet.
Is there a write up the install on here or is it to top secret
You guys talking about installing
997.1
x51 intake?
3.8S intake (X51) on 3.4 - Articles
Was there ever an answer to this? Will the OEM 997 intake distributors fit the 987 and is there any difference?
Yes it fits but there would be a clearance issue with the engine cover IIRC. You need to the put some spacers on the engine mounts. X51 intake manifold it not as tall I believe and doesn't have that issue.
X51 engine swap is ever better =)
How about the Gen 2 manifold? It looks more like the x51. Anyone ever looked into fitting the Gen 2 on a Gen 1?
EDIT: Scratch that. Bolts patterns look different.
The reported 8 to 12 HP gains were over stock. I can't believe it would add much to your car with the RS370 package. There is only so much available without FI in a 3.4 liter.
Gen 2 are missing holes for the injectors due to direct injection style.
When you say "holes", is it something that can be drilled or cut and work or is the bolt pattern still different?
If anyone is still active here.. I’ve found myself in the black hole of
987.1
modding. I found a great
997.1
intake manifold setup and was wondering if the ports and bolt holes are all the same. I can modify the engine bay cover and was looking and quarter window scoops for induction.

i am also interested in this. looks like the one you found is made for turbos application tho. not sure how much that would help NA
True, when time coves for an engine rebuild, may go the turbo route and build accordingly.
