Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I'm trying to remove my intake manifolds to paint and am having a hell of a time getting them out. I've got the plenum out, but I'm stuck on the intakes. Are there any resources or videos on how to do this? I've searched all over the forum and can't find a working link to any tutorials or videos. Thanks in advance! Patrick

This may help. DIY X51 intake manifold on 987 3.4 installation - 6SpeedOnline - Porsche Forum and Luxury Car Resource Boxster / Cayman - DIY X51 intake manifold on 987 3.4 installation - *this article has many pictures you may need to refresh your browser for all of them to appear* difficulty 1-10: 10 Hp increase: 8-12WHP...so far installation time: 10-20HRS (approximate) *reasonable knowledge required tools... www.6speedonline.com It is an involved process that takes a couple of hours. It requires removal of the front engine access panel as well as the engine cover. It also helps if you have a variety of sockets and extensions to get to the various fasteners. There used to be a DIY on P9 but I think it was lost when the site was upgraded. Todd

Thanks Todd, that link led me to some helpful resources! I finished the paint job today, and am very happy with the way it turned out! Now to wait on that HIP clear engine cover...

Make sure all hoses, vacuum lines, wiring, and brackets connected to the intake manifolds are fully disconnected. Check for hidden bolts, studs, or coolant/EGR lines that might still be attached. Gently wiggle and lift the manifolds, do not force them. Taking photos and labeling connections can help with reassembly. You can also find Nissan VQ intake removal videos on YouTube for step by step guidance.
