Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Little things that need to be checked are appearance, wheel condition, 2-operating keys, tires able for 2500-3500 miles, windshield wipers,, and of course, everything works as intended.

Not sure of the model number...i use a $1500 autel but even that has its limits as it wont read my gt3 dme.

Suspected cause
The better foxwell with the porsche specific software is probably the best of the basic scanners.

Its the best scanmer if u get a 996 but not for checking everyone u may buy.

Suggestion
The durametric amateur Version is limited to 3 VINs but checking stored error codes, overrevs etc.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all P-folks!
I am looking at a 2003 Carrera 4S in Virginia Beach. by "looking", I mean internet. I need someone to help and volunteer to actually look at this C4S, give opinions, views, criticism, or whatever about it. It has 71K miles.
I also need evaluation of the dealership seller. I have found a few dealers that have a candidate but have absolutely horrible reviews.
I need references for an Indy-shop near 23454 to do a PPI, and give written results. I expect to contact the Indy and arrange for PPI, my cost. No PPI, I'll probably walk away (or in reality, stay put).
In addition, I need direction on what scanner to get for a 996 C4S- What brand Foxwell, Schwaben and Durametric, and what model? Just some added $$ for knowledge.
I am in Idaho, so just going to VA to see something is not reasonable. I would like email report or whatever seems best for this to work out. If I can find volunteer enthusiast, then I can progress with an offer based on PPI and so on.
Little things that need to be checked are appearance, wheel condition, 2-operating keys, tires able for 2500-3500 miles, windshield wipers,, and of course, everything works as intended. PPI finds other stuff. The miles make a difference, because I would go straight across or southern route to here, driving, not in a box.
I did this similar scenario before with PCA and NV to NY. I bought a 78 930 sight unseen by me in real life. Others did a good job of providing "eyesight". Since I do not have a P now, I am not in PCA, so I'll try another avenue. A "volunteer" needs to know a bit about the 996 animal and also feelings about the dealer. While I am not a fan of dealers, this particular C4S is pretty close to what I want.
Maybe De Jeeper, CarGuyNVA, sirhodjibob, or others can chime in and assist? Bash Hat know me from recent sale of his car, possible reference.
I thank all for any assistance. I really would like to have a P car again.
Send email addy to me on my email ([email removed]) or carrier pigeon or something. Let me know as soon as convenient/possible.
YMMV
The durametric is nice but its limited to 3 vins unless u get a pro version. Its the best scanmer if u get a 996 but not for checking everyone u may buy. The better foxwell with the porsche specific software is probably the best of the basic scanners. Not sure of the model number...i use a $1500 autel but even that has its limits as it wont read my gt3 dme. They reverse engineer their software and they dont care about the 1200 gt3 computers in NA.
Sorry i cant help u with the ppi. Im just not close enough. U can also post in the East Region section for help.
Durametric is Porsche-specific but very good for that use case. As DeJeeper said the consumer version is limited to 3 VINs.
After having gone through several make-specific scanners over the years I decided to get a Youcanic for general use. It did a fabulous job reading the bazillion or so systems in a 2015 Mercedes S Class; that car sat unused for 2 years, had a lot of little niggly stuff wrong as a result, and the Youcanic literally paid for itself on that car alone. It is less useful than the Durametric on the 996 though. The Youcanic covers an enormous range of vehicles -- literally worldwide! Software has constantly been updated for it as well over the 14 months that I've owned one.

There are at least 2 places near Virginnia Beach that services Porsche, I have not used either since I'm about 3-4 hours away.
1.Race Werks, [phone removed] ([email removed])
2. LMN Motorsports, [phone removed] ([email removed])
3. Eric Apotheker is the PCA President of that area, he may be able to assist, ([email removed])
Thanks Moe996, De Jeeper, wdb for some answers. Maybe I am finally getting somewhere. I did contact with emails so just wait and see. I still need eyes on the car.
Anyone know anything about Elite Motors in Virginia Beach?
Someone here (doan remember who) said something like " A dealership will tell you a wood crate box go-cart is the best thing ever because all they want to do is sell it. Never trust a dealership". I'm not sure I am that jaded, but like Reagan "Trust But Verify".
YMMV
The durametric amateur Version is limited to 3 VINs but checking stored error codes, overrevs etc. does not count. Thus it's very well suited (intended even) to use as a PPI tool.
Check out the durametric site for details
