Out of habit I always put the car in first or reverse (depending on parking up or down hill)when using the parking brake.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Porsche has launched its second recall of 2006, and Fiat wants to inspect the suspension of more than 10,000 Multipla MPVs.
The Porsche recall affects 114 Boxsters, 911s and the first Cayman coupes off the production line.
Porsche has found that in certain circumstances, the parking brake could fail because of a potentially faulty bearing. Cars built between November 22 and December 13 are affected.
My car was built Dec 22nd and was VIN 1896, so the VIN #'s have to be before that. We can probably piece together the range if users here chime in with their build date and VIN#.
I just spoke with my friendly Porsche service rep. She ran a check on my car, a 11/26 build and came up with zero recalls.
She said that the ONLY communication that she has received from Porsche through today concerning Caymans was for W610, which has to do with a software update. I don't know what this addresses, other than it didn't effect my car.
So, if we are effected by the whatcar.com info, it hasn't made it to (all) the dealerships yet.
On an interesting side note, she did speak of a W609 that is supposed to effect Carrerras only that has to do with fuel level sender calibration (maybe the Caymans that don't fill up all the way have this issue, too???).
My build date was Nov. My VIN is 81425. Will be at dealer on Fri. for some warranty work & dent repair. Will ask the Service Mgr. about it then as they SHOULD have info by then.
How do you determine the DAY of build??? I seem to recall that you could decipher the VIN to get that info, but haven't found the thread as yet.
There are no recalls listed for the Caymanon the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration web site (www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsearch.cfm).

According to UK car pub AutoExpress, Fiat will mail letters to 10,284 owners of its wacky diesel Multipla. The recall covers derv-burning MPVs that left the factory between May 1999 and December 2004, and was spurned by fear of a front suspension issue that could result in a cut tire.
And in other news, Porsche has initiated its second recall of the year, this time due to faulty brakes. The service action involves more than 100 Boxsters, 911s, and Caymans built between November 22 and December 13 of 2005, and was triggered by a faulty bearing which may cause parking brake failure.

I thought I set my parking brake enough but my car rolled out ofthe garage 15 minutes ago. I caught it before it made it to the street and feel pretty stupid right now.I probablyjust didn't set it enough, but I thought of this post immediately. I have VIN 0778.

Out of habit I always put the car in first or reverse (depending on parking up or down hill)when using the parking brake. Belt and suspender kind of thing.
I have always done what Santa Fe does (at least since 1974 when my Austin America rolled out of our hillside driveway.) However, I have a hillside driveway again and I've test parked the CS in the incline without putting it in gear and what I have found is that unless I really tug hard [/quote]on the parking brake, the car will roll. I know 'tug hard' is totally subjective, but I think it's the amout of force that would brake most any car. It seems the CS needs to get through two additional clicks on the brake before it is secure. I don't know if this has anything to do with the recall issues, but it sure makes sense to lock the CS down with the brake and by also putting it in gear as well.
Has anone else noticed that the CS is hard to tie down when parked on an incline?
