Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It’s also left on a CTEK trickle charger and so replaced the battery a couple of years ago. Time to get this resolved properly, so a process of elimination I think, starting with the clutch switch.
Leading evidence: 'Replace battery a couple of years ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check clutch pedal switch too' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I was lucky enough to have access to tools so replaced the front pads but I couldn't get new low brake pad sensors so had to re-use the existing ones.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I tried my cruise control today, but although the green indicator lights on the dash, the actual CC definitely doesn't work. Nothing happens when I use the CC stalk. Where should I begin troubleshooting? I presume fuse isn't an issue if the dash light comes on.
I had the issue earlier in the year and some people made suggestions
Thread 'Cruise Control failure'

My CC has been working fine until a Euro tour last week. I did a couple of laps of the Ring, nothing too onerous but obviously a bit more stressful on the car compared to pootling around. I then did Andorra where I got a low brake warning light come on. I was lucky enough to have access to tools so replaced the front pads but I couldn't get new low brake pad sensors so had to re-use the existing ones.
Things I’ve tried so far-
Cleared all error codes with my Foxwell NT530
Checked that all lights work, including the high level and spoiler brake lights, so I assume the brake light switch...

Are you aware of how the operation for the cruise works? You push it away from yourself (so forward, not up) to activate it or accelerate, unlike most cars that are up to accelerate.
Apologies if you've already read the handbook
Also try putting your foot behind the clutch pedal and see if you can lift it up slightly, if it does lift a bit try holding it up and see if CC will engage, if so it could be the clutch assist spring.
Also I read someone's stopped working when they put led brake light bulbs in.
With yours being a cable throttle it must have a seperate actuator, this will either be in the engine bay near the throttle body, or will be under the dash near the throttle pedal. I'd want to find it, then check it out to make sure it's plugged in and the mechanical cable side is good too!
My money's on the clutch pedal switch. Good trick pulling the pedal up with your foot. I only need to catch the pedal with my foot and it instantly disables it. I also tried using the car without the clutch assist spring on and cruise wouldn't work.
If you've got a durametric you can use that to check the stalk functions correctly and the clutch and brake pedal switches, well you can on an egas car!
I’ve just revisited this, and a few observations. My brake pedal only has a single plunger switch.. should it not have 2? One for lights, one for CC?
I can’t see any cable actuator near the throttle body… what should I be looking for?
It’s like it doesn’t have CC even though it’s in the spec for the car
I think the actuator attaches to the throttle pedal with a second cable and is therefore under the dash above the pedal.
My mate needed a new throttle pedal and I remember seeing one with a cable and box attached!
Does anyone know of this is the right part number for the clutch pedal switch?

I’ve had an intermittent starting issue with the 997 for a while. It’s also left on a CTEK trickle charger and so replaced the battery a couple of years ago. Time to get this resolved properly, so a process of elimination I think, starting with the clutch switch.
