Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I usually start something and find I need a special tool I don’t have or the last person how did work didn’t have the correct bolts to put back in so fitted any old thing so I have to order the correct bits.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Bank holiday Sunday spent under the 911, what more could a man want. My other half thinks I've gone completely insane.
My first job was to attempt to replace the spark plugs. I started on cylinder 6 and am pleased to report perfect liners. No sign of bore score.
Cylinder 5 was a nightmare as the loom connector had been broken and it had 2 small zip ties on it. Removal was easy but getting it back on was very tricky indeed. I've ordered 3 Bosch's ones and some terminal removal tools. I'm hoping this is fairly easy from above. Has anyone done this?
Cylinder 4 was a nightmare as the coil separated and I couldn't find a long nose pliers to get the coil tube out. After a long shower (I was covered in grime as it took 2 hours to do the above) I had a word with myself about being a bit more positive and tackled under both arches. No rust found so I scrubbed and pressure washed both sides and sprayed dinitrol. I'll post pics up later as I was so tired I just wanted to get everything back on and get the car back in the garage and have a cold beer.
I was going to do the front today but it's going to be 34 degrees.
That’s called the joy of older cars, any car really.

Why do people think gutter bolts are acceptable anywhere else but a gutter.
The worst jobs on an older 911 is the corroded exhaust nuts and bolts that are a challenge and usually need cutting off.
The exhaust flange bolts are the worst. On my 997.2 I watched many a video on how to do it, how long it should take. My miatake was watching Californian content. No rust. 3hrs they said. I was under the impression thay they were welded studs. Once I found they were pressed, I got my big reciprocating saw and lopped them off.
3hr job took 1.5 days. If id lopped them off in the first instance, its a 3hr job.
So OP, good on you for doing a job that scares the pish out of me. Enjoy the coldie
I stupidly took the day off in this heat to lay under the car. After a lot of fiddling about I managed to get the offending connection up to the engine bay. Now I just need the new bit to arrive. I'm waiting for some long nose pliers to arrive so i can get the sleeve off plug 4. I've ordered some silicone grease so it doesn't happen again.
At least the car is set up in the garage so I can just close the door on it. Thank goodness I made the garage 2 ft wider than the plans
