Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The problem is the oil pressure is really low 1.5/2 bar running.
Leading evidence: 'oil pressure is really low 1.5/2 bar running' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'oil pressure is really low 1.5/2 bar running' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean & up' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

BUT he moved it in & out of his workshop to make space regularly. The oil is still clean & up to the mark.

It only had an oil/filter change about a 1000 miles ago.

Another thing to watch out for low oil pressure is the filter bypass valve in the filter housing is attached to the bottom of the filter housing, they are meant to be replaced with the filter because as they age, of if you use a non Mahle/Porsche filter that is a bit too tight on that bypass valve, they can come away with the filter when you remove it.

It had full Hartech rebuild about 8 years ago & has run brilliantly.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just got my car back from paint shop after about 5 months. Only minor touch ups between other jobs at his workshop. The problem is the oil pressure is really low 1.5/2 bar running. It only had an oil/filter change about a 1000 miles ago. BUT he moved it in & out of his workshop to make space regularly. The oil is still clean & up to the mark. Any ideas or simple checks. I change the oil & filter every year & only do 2/4 thousand miles pa. It had full Hartech rebuild about 8 years ago & has run brilliantly. Its a 996 Carrera with 3.7 Hartech. Mike.
It could be the oil pressure sender. Do you know what make of filter was used? It's been known for some to collapse.
It's hard to say but I'd be looking at the sender.
When Porsche charge £28 for a filter it actually comes with a new filter housing too. But as more and more people move away from Porsche servicing it is cheaper to buy a new Mahle filter on it's own for £15 so the housing gets reused for years.
If a small bit of sealant or whatever gets stuck in that bypass valve it can also cause low pressure issues too.
In both cases you are basically running without a filter.
Also, corrosion on the pressure sender connectors can give a low oil pressure reading too. Both on the spade connectors themselves or where the wire is crimped to the spade connectors.
Wiggle the wire a bit with the car in ignition pos 1 so engine not on, and watch the reading, if it moves off zero at all as you do this you know it is this.
Uncle Monty, do you or anyone else know the torque setting for the 19mm oil pressure sender.
I 've scanned through the workshop manual but can't find it.
