Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

27 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've had my wheels refurb'd as they starting to bubble, only 4 years old!!, not what i excepted from Porsche having looked that the various Porsche wheel colours, i thought i go a different colour within the porsche range. before after. the colour is OB5 Platinum Silk (satin) im not sure if the car now looks too dark, opinions please sorry about the poor quality pic's

POST 4Original post

Its your decision at the end of the day but I would say yes, too dark.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yep think i"ll need to get them sprayed in the new year. least they are not bubbling any more. the finish is great, think the colour would look great on lighter colour body.

POST 6Original post

Yeh I think too dark. Been through a similar dilema myself. Anything dark only looks good on light colours and if you are going to have them on a dark car you need the silver lip Porsche do which then doesn't make them look so small. Dark wheels look smaller without a lip of some sort. On the size of wheel you have I would leave a bright silver. If you want a different look id by a set of 19s in black with a lip.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

at least it will not be a full refurb but just a blow in.

POST 8Original post

anonymous said: [redacted] Or use them as a winter set with winter tyres on... They still look good btw - just a shade too dark IMO as others have said...

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hey thanks for the replies. could look at going up a rim size.. so that has got me thinking. im not keen on black wheels on a black car but thats just my opinion..

POST 10Original post

Too dark, they need to be black or a light colour.

POST 11Original post

They look ok, but I think you need red or yellow painted calipers and the coloured centres to break things up a bit?

POST 12Original post

Hi Rob They dont look quite right do they? I would sell em on ebay and then get a set of these.

POST 13Original post

POST 14Original post

anonymous said: [redacted] Their similarity to minilites is exactly why i like them! Edited by mollytherocker on Sunday 10th November 22:04

POST 15Original post

I think they look fine. I agree re the red calipers, though. What happened to yours? Shiny shiny light silver wheels look great until you use the brakes and then they look dirty. Dark wheels may be the way forward for the man who wants to drive his car AND have it look clean most of the time.

POST 16Original post

Ditto. Always liked the look of Minilites. My old rally car from the 80's. Edited by Trev450 on Monday 11th November 10:55

POST 17Original post

I think you get red calipers on an S & black on a 2.9. I prefer black calipers.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anybody close to Warrington with Platinum Silk wheels, so that i can compare the colour. mine look a bit too "blue", then i can take it up with Rhino Alloys

POST 19Original post

Let the other half drive the car for a week, it will come back with all wheels kerbed.......oh dear a refurb is due! I think most outfits charge the same price if it is a full refurb or just a touch up respray.

POST 20Original post

Too dark. This colour looks better on a white car. Got it on my GT3.

POST 21Original post

Why not fit a set of rim protectors in silver? It would give it that thin silver lip that a black/dark wheel needs.

IMI A said: off topic missing your old car now you have a new one or is the latest car a better road car? OP I like em! Would I have kept the turbo in addition to the GT3 I would never drive it. The GT3 is more raw and just a more exciting drive. And yes - I think it's a better road car as well. Ride in normal mode is not harsh at all and the buckets are super comfy. The sound of this 3.8 Mezger is something else!

Your old car would monster typical UK greasy roads. Can the GT3 with 2wd do the same mate? When its wet and windy I actively get in my car and go out for a blast as its more fun in the rain!

POST 25Original post

OP if you put gold centre caps with centre caps painted same dark colour it would really improve the look of the car.

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yep I had the coloured wheel centres painted at the same time, so will put them on when i get my car back from the body shop (having the front front repainted). Currently bidding on another set of OEM wheels in silver as well.
