Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

From what I understand Bi-Xenon on our cars is a single beam that is changed (distance, beam, intensity, etc) when switching from low to high so both are truly Xenon.
Leading evidence: 'Replace (distance, beam, intensity, etc)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust beam manually just as you do standard halogen lights' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Okay, my '01 C4 most definitely uses an HID bulb (welding arc inside a glass capsule) along with a halogen for high beam "fill-in".

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

No; asked my indi a few questions, purchased a set from a fellow RL'r, and they have been perfect ever since. remove old lights, make sure the area is nice and clean and install the litronics; test and you should be GTG.
The first part is definitely true. The second part is more subjective. I considered installing Litronics but didn't care for the amount of work involved in adding the levelers and since the stock halogen headlights are pretty good, I left them in.
I believe that many countries require a leveling system to be installed in the car, but the US is not one of them.
True on the HID lighting assemblies. The litronics are not that.
With that said, you can adjust the beam manually just as you do standard halogen lights.
As in the Litronics "don't count" as HIDs?
Yeah, I know but for some reason it still bugs me, like I'm half-assing a project by leaving some of the parts out.
Litronics are not HID's. I forget where I recently read it but it throughly explained why Porsche's Litronics are not HID's.
Totally agree with you on the half done aspect. That is why I searched for a GT3 with the Bi-Xenon lights so it was done right and had all the proper bells and whistles.
Litronics are simply Porsche's "unique spin" on bi-xenon HID headlamps.
Projector headlight optics with permanent aperture for SHARP high edge beam cutoff. Beam assembly is rotated upward in high beam mode to overcome the apperture cutoff. Separate high beam bulb is also illuminated in high beam mode for "fill in".
Later models are much better since a solenoid is used to drop the apperture out of the beam path.
I would install the harness and controller for the litronics. It will take less than a half hour and provides better lighting (rotates the beams up on hi-beam).
Litronic are not HID from what I understand. I'd have to find the article that explained why they aren't and what they really are. Maybe it's because to be HID you have to have a true electrical charged gas discharge of light and the litronics aren't that. For all I know I dreamt it the other night and thought it was something I truly read
FYI....
The litronic differ from the 02+ bi-xenon lights in that the high and low beam are xenon on the 02+ and only the low beam on the 99-01 (high beam is halogen).
OK, so I just went out to the garage and fired up both my pre facelift CAB with LItronics and they look to fire up and illuminate similarly to my Turbo which has the "Bi-Zenon" lights. What is odd is that my Turbo does NOT appear to be truly a Bi-Zenon assembly in that I turned on the brights and they are halogen. My window sticker shows Bi-Zenon so now I am totally confused.
From what I understand Bi-Xenon on our cars is a single beam that is changed (distance, beam, intensity, etc) when switching from low to high so both are truly Xenon. In the Litronics, the Xenon actually cuts out and the only thing illuminated is the halogen high beam. However, both my cars illuminate the projector of Xenon light on low and both stay on when switching to high and illuminate a halogen.
I really wish I remember where I read what I did on these lights just recently.
Ah screw it, I'm just going to enjoy the car and be happy with whatever lighting I have
Okay, my '01 C4 most definitely uses an HID bulb (welding arc inside a glass capsule) along with a halogen for high beam "fill-in". In high beam mode the auto-leveling motors are used to "tilt" the HID beam assembly upward into the "bi" position.
There are several methods for implementing an HID bi-xenon, hi/low, mode.
