Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Checked all systems with his scanner, found no codes, no problems, ran spark tests on all cylinders, (I had recently replaced plugs and coils) and found no glaring problems.

Leading evidence: 'Check systems' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'transmission fluids not coming up' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check systems' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
I have found that on a "colder" morning start up (not below freezing as this is not winter driven) it does have a bit of a stutter in first, but aht is probably the transmission fluids not coming up to temp yet.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.
Planet-9: 1 discussions
0 evidence records excluded for query context · 1 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.
Hey, everyone. It's me again. So far, the coolant level is holding steady. The car is not displaying any signs of excessive oil consumption or coolant in the oil (there is a some smoke at startup, but it seems more like vapor and less like smoke related to combusted coolant).
Anyways, I have recently started getting a bit of low rev hesitation when accelerating from idle in first gear in the car (it almost feels like the car is stalling for a second or bogging). However, it only seems to happen when the car is cold (aka right after a cold start). It's hard to say exactly when things become smooth, though. I've also noticed a slightly rough idle (subtle movements of the RPM needle and a small shake/shudder occasionally), that is seemingly independent of engine temp. There are no CELs to speak of and the car is not burning excessive oil.
I have a new MAF and
AOS
on the way. Perhaps the MAF swap will resolve this? The symptom being tied to a cold car is the only part that makes the MAF see unlikely--unless there is a relationship between MAF behavior and engine temperature that eludes me.
Could it be an early symptom of a failing clutch? I don't really have any issues with slippage/hesitation in other gears.
Had almost the same issue with my RS60 a few years ago. Took it an indy shop, no lights, codes, nothing. Started chasing, plugs, coils, cleaned MAF and a few other things. We decided then to wait for a code. After thinking about it and doing some research, I realized, maybe it's the fuel. I had been using Sam's, which may or may not be Top Tier. No sticker on pump, time to change. Two tanks of
Chevron
, issue gone. Lucky me!
Please update when it's sorted.
Went through a similar situation as you a few months back. Slight stumble when pulling away from a stop at times. Went to my indy and he did the same as your guy. Checked all systems with his scanner, found no codes, no problems, ran spark tests on all cylinders, (I had recently replaced plugs and coils) and found no glaring problems. He suggested what I was planning to do
next
. Try a bottle of
Techron
at my
next
fill up. Whaddya know? Seemed to eliminate the problem. Sometimes the simplest, cheapest, easiest fix is the one. And it can’t hurt to try it.
Hey, guys. I had a similar thought; I was using Costco gas (which is supposed to be certified). However, I recall having some issues with an M2 Competition and this exact Costco's gas in the past. Due to that, I decided to get a tank of Shell gas. However, two tanks of Shell gas in--and it's still a bit rough. The idle is better now (perhaps still a touch jumpy), but there's still some hesitation/stumble, especially when the engine is cold. Maybe I need to try
Chevron
gas specifically?
I am swapping the MAF and
AOS
tomorrow, so let's hope that fixes the issue.
I am a member at Costco, however my nearest store is over an hour away so I don’t use them for regular refueling. Just joined Sam’s Club which is 10 minutes away, but out of my three vehicles, two require Premium. My ‘08
Boxster
and a Land Rover Defender, but I am hesitant to use ‘bargain’ fuel out of a fear, possibly unfounded, that I will experience problems. Anyone with similar trepidations or past experiences going that route?
@WTFChuck
, that WAS me. Cheap fuel seemed to be my issue. May have fouled my O2?
Chevron for me now. Costco, where I live, is Top Tier so when convenient in it goes. So far so good.
Where I am (Toronto, ON) Costco is Top Tier but only 91 Octane. I have to use Shell (also Top Tier) for 93. I have found that on a "colder" morning start up (not below freezing as this is not winter driven) it does have a bit of a stutter in first, but aht is probably the transmission fluids not coming up to temp yet.
Alright, replaced the
AOS
and MAF. So far, it seems to be doing better, the low-end hesitation appears to be gone. However, the idle is still not completely smooth.
The old
AOS
had a bit of milky substance in it, but it was not gunked up and looked pretty healthy inside. Is it normal for some of the residual oil in the
AOS
to be milky, or is this a sign I have an internal coolant leak? The oil that came out in a recent change seems completely clean (it's on the way to BlackStone for analysis, either way).
The MAF didn't appear dirty at all, and there wasn't really anything in the tube to speak of. With that being said, the car's throttle seems so much more responsive. It's possible the MAF was just at EOL, regardless of how dirty it was.
My car has 89k on the odo.
