Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Disconnect mount' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect mount' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Despite Porsche's insistence otherwise, looks like the single DIN PCCM (non Plus) head unit is compatible with the 996.

I'd also like to know, as I'd like to install in my '99. I don't think the PCCM+ really suits this generation in terms of aesthetics.
I had read somewhere it wasn't possible, so this gives me hope.
I was at the dealer today getting some small parts and I asked the parts guy if he's sold a lot of them and he said not really.
I asked why the single din isn't listed for a 996 and he said they spec the + for the all 996s and if you don't have nav, they sell you all the trim pieces to convert yours to a dual din set up.
I found that interesting
I think it is PCRN, not PCCM. There is a photo showing the trunk with the box for PCRN, too.
Whatever the case may be, it does not matter. Both PCRN and PCCM are not compatible according to Porsche. Still, there are several reports with the successful installation of PCRN or PCCM in 996.
Another +1 for gt3 console delete.
Cupholder for above as the AC takes the spot of the original cupholder when you do the delete

Has anyone had further experience with this? Im looking at installing a single din in my 996 but just called Porsche he said it doesnt work. Didnt grill him too much. Took it for face value. I hope hes wrong.
