Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

He literally turned his ignition on / off 100 times before the car / ECU "recognized / reset" to start the car.....not sure whether the starter will stop working suddenly as you would typically hear grinding noise for awhile...oh..and you may want to double check the fuse(s) as well...

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My car won’t start. Just a click sound when turning the ignition. Battery is full charge! Possibly the car starter or power cable need to be changed. Has anyone experienced this with their 987.2 ?

POST 2Original post

Did you do anything before hand? FWIW, my friend cleaned / changed his throttle body of an older 986 and had the same symptom. He literally turned his ignition on / off 100 times before the car / ECU "recognized / reset" to start the car.....not sure whether the starter will stop working suddenly as you would typically hear grinding noise for awhile...oh..and you may want to double check the fuse(s) as well...

POST 3Original post

How old is it? "Full charge" as measured by what? Charger, volt meter? Both of those might show that the voltage is good, but that doesn't mean that the battery can deliver enough amperage to crank the starter under load. Get the battery load tested at an auto parts store.

POST 4Original post

Nick, imagine my disappointment when opening this thread expecting to see an intro message and some nice photos of a new members car, and finding instead an unhappy Porsche owner with a problem. Problems don't go here. Intro messages (with photos please!) do go here. I'm moving this thread from the intro section to the 987 technical area. Hope to see a real intro message from you soon! With pictures.

POST 5Original post

Apologies for the technical inquiry on the wrong VM platform . I am a proud enthusiast with a 2009 cayman S.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
