Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I was hoping it will fix the throttle staying open for a split second after releasing the gas pedal, but unfortunately the problem is still present after cleaning.
Leading evidence: 'still present' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'still present' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean throttle body' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Fitted the carrera badge and OEM exhaust tips, replaced the passenger window regulator and air filters, and cleaned the throttle body.

The attached photos show the car as I've got it, sans the wheels it came with 18'' replica wheels on semi-slicks, which I replaced with OEM 17'' to be able to register the car.

I used a glob of grease to accomplish the install.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone, I've recently (June) acquired this 996, and figured it would be cool to open my first build thread.
This forum has greatly helped me, and I hope to give back.
The car is manufactured in March 1998, optioned with M030 and LSD diff. Also, no sunroof. It even has satnav
Previous owner told me it was used as a press car in Germany, but I was not able to find any info on that.
The attached photos show the car as I've got it, sans the wheels it came with 18'' replica wheels on semi-slicks, which I replaced with OEM 17'' to be able to register the car.
In the next couple of weeks I will be posting stuff I've already done to the car (plenty), and lay out my future plans.
Thanks for reading!
Thank you all, Rich your collection is kinda amazing
Interestingly, my car was originally specced with the wheels you are running on your cab.
So, with first projects I wanted to get myself familiar with the car and slowly bring it back to stock.
Fitted the carrera badge and OEM exhaust tips, replaced the passenger window regulator and air filters, and cleaned the throttle body.
I was hoping it will fix the throttle staying open for a split second after releasing the gas pedal, but unfortunately the problem is still present after cleaning.
Sorry for the bad pics, I had no idea I will be starting a build thread back then
A YouTuber "I Do Cars" has a paste yellow coupe and I always thought wow what a rare/odd color a light pastel yellow, these must be super rare I have never seen 1 in person. Good stuff you got going on over there my friend!
Check that your throttle cable does not have a hang up do to fraying or the need for some silicon lube, enjoy the yellow. 😀 My Ferrari Yellow 1999.
Rich
Rich, as far as I can tell the cable is fine, I've also lubed it up. The response is improved when the RPM is higher, which leads me to believe it might be a vacuum leak or an injector issue.
That's a pretty car, I was looking at speed yellow examples originally but could not find any
As far as the pastel goes, I continued with replacing all 4 LCAs and front caster arms.
I have also removed the rear wiper. I really don't like the protruding plugs, so I designed and 3D printed my own plug, with a proper rubber seal. It mounts flush to the body.
Still needs to be painted tho.
Old control arms.
Rubber seal is underneath to prevent water leaks.
Next to godzilla, note how subtle the plug is even when not painted.
So, finally wrapping up 3.6 injector upgrade, AOS replacement, starter rebuild, and other various things.
I am having a bit of trouble seating the AOS all the way in, do you guys think this will leak? I dont see any way of pushing this in any further.
Compared to the old AOS, the new one has more ribs on the gasket, which makes me think its gonna seal up.
That seal should disappear into the block.
I used a glob of grease to accomplish the install.
without the grease you will most likely tear the seal like I did.
I did put in some grease, but obviously not enough.
Since most of the car is buttoned up by now, I will monitor this for leaks and reseat it if necessary.
I am thinking I can reseat it even without removing anything, by going in from the bottom, right?
Thank you all for the answers, it will make me sleep easier.
As for the other things, it looks like the IMS is not OEM there should be a part number on the flange, right?
Does anyone know what kind of IMS is this?
