Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'll check the heater voltage when the engine has cooled down and I can do a cold start in the morning.

That was my thought as well, which is why I'm checking the heater wiring, but the voltages are reporting correctly, so if the heater voltage are there then it points to them both having failed.

As stated you are going to need a Mapp heat gun, angle grinder, long crow bar (and maybe a scaffold pole), a 22mm bolt extractor for rounded nuts and a m18 lambda sensor thread repair tool.

If you take the cats off ,you can clamp the nut in a vice and use the whole thing as leverage to try to undo them, it sometimes works but those look pretty seized.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

After spending some time sorting out the brakes on my car, I took it for its MOT and it failed on emissions. Lambda of 1.1 and CO of 5%. Plugged in the durametric and it is showing fault codes P0134 and P0154 which is inoperative O2 sensors on both banks. Voltages on both showing as a steady 0.4v. I have checked them with a meter and they really are. The heater resistance is showing in durametric as 2.3 ohms, heater fuse is OK and no faults reported on the heater. I'll check the heater voltage when the engine has cooled down and I can do a cold start in the morning.
Assuming the heaters have voltage I'll try to get the sensors out, but I'm not holding out much hope. Any advice welcome. I have a sensor socket which slides over them, but the one I tried it on was so rusted it just span around on it. I might have to bite the bullet and get the exhaust off, which is not something I'm looking forward to from the state of the bolts!! At least the brakes are looking great.

My initial view is whilst two sensors can fail, both going dead in the same way points more towards a shared feed or wiring fault.
Exhaust bolts look like they are ready for combat !
That was my thought as well, which is why I'm checking the heater wiring, but the voltages are reporting correctly, so if the heater voltage are there then it points to them both having failed. I have found cases of this happening with other people before.
It isn't the end of the world if I have to take the exhaust off. Let's face it, it is going to end up happening one day!

I have ordered a set of impact nut removers. Always a good excuse for more tools. I have just checked and confirmed that the heaters are active on both sides. So tomorrow I'll get the bumper off to get a bit better access, it was off last week so will come off easily, and see if I can remove them without taking the whole system off.

Alex, Is the Rothenburger useful for all heat treating work for the car. I mean is it worth getting for my tool kit rather than a typical B&Q type blow torch
I had 2 of my Lambda sensors fail, I tried with lambda sockets but they were useless.
Heat didn’t seem to help.
CAT’s off, cut the top of the sensors, Impact socket and breaker bar. Got my grown son to stand on the CAT’s and eventually ripped all 4 out, drilled & retapped threads, installed new sensors.
Wasn’t fun but satisfying when done. Old cars

As stated you are going to need a Mapp heat gun, angle grinder, long crow bar (and maybe a scaffold pole), a 22mm bolt extractor for rounded nuts and a m18 lambda sensor thread repair tool. Did a series of 6 videos and part 5 covers lambda sensor removal. Good luck. Oh, and I have a Stomski kit for removing rusted exhaust manifold studs available to buy.
You used exactly the same tools I will be using, except I don't have the thread chaser yet. If I end up taking it off the car I'll be swapping for something new though. Tomorrow should reveal all. Looking forward to it
