It sounded a little rough starting, maybe from the rain we've just had, but spinning it on the high setting a few times smoothed it all out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My left front radiator fan was constantly running on the loud setting even when the car was fairly cold. after researching some of the other threads on this, it seemed possible that it was a minor issue. I hooked up my durametric cable and found a fault with the right motor. Fearing a trip to the dealer was assured, I reached through the fins with a pokey tool and the blades seemed to turn easy enough. A quick reset of the faults and a activation of the fans was all it took to get the thing spinning again. It sounded a little rough starting, maybe from the rain we've just had, but spinning it on the high setting a few times smoothed it all out. That cable just paid for itself, I see me getting a lot of mileage out of it. None of the other threads mentioned this technique, so I wanted to put this here to help someone else down the line.

POST 2Original post

What is a "pokey tool"? Glad you got your car fixed.

POST 3Original post

when I get the a/c going I get a loud fluttering sound from the dash. Turn the fan off, turn it back on and it usually goes away. Any ideas folks?

POST 4Original post

I know this about a decade late, but I had this issue too. Took out my cabin air filter and emptied out a TON of acorn shells. Previous owner left the car parked outside from time to time. Once I cleared them out, the noise disappeared.

POST 5Original post

Please tell me how you located the cooling fan relay. ( 981 Porsche Boxster S) I looked at the fuse panels on the driver's and passenger side, and did not see a fan relay. Please tell me where it is and/or how to get to it? Thank you, JoAnne

POST 6Original post

Hi JoAnne, I have a 2016 981 CGTS with the front right fan running for an extended period of time even when the engine is not warm or even cold. Did you get an answer to this question? The car isn't showing any codes in the dash. Thanks!
