Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

How much boost does one really get with a performance air filter ? Would it void the warranty ? JT

POST 2Original post

Jt, I just had my car in the dealer for its first annual service. I receive a few interesting facts relative to your question from the service manager: 1) Adding performance intakes, such as K&N, etc, will not void the warranty. 2) Adding performance intakes and performance ("free-flow") exhausts will not increase performance. They may add hp and torque increase; however, due to the DME programming, the car will "re-tune" itself and adjust to the air flows and back pressure changes. Bottom line -- to get more performance, one would have to change the DME or have them re-programmed. Of course, perhaps the best and most important benifit of the mentioned goodies -- improved SOUNDS and LOOKS!!!!! Ed
