Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, 2006 CS owner here. When I am at slow parking speeds, particularly in reverse, I hear what almost sounds like a belt squealing when the steering wheel is at full lock. Based on my research, it seems like this is just a symptom of the power steering system being at full load, and slipping slightly at its maximum output. I plan to have the power steering fluid flushed and changed soon, but wondering if any folks have experienced similar?

POST 2Original post

This may be tire squeal due to Ackerman geometry. Here's an explanation scrubbed from the web... "A squeal during slow, tight turns is often a normal characteristic of Ackermann steering geometry, especially with performance tires in colder weather or on slick surfaces, as the wheels may be forced to "scrub" sideways due to a slight mismatch in the steering angles required for perfect Ackermann. This tire scuffing, or a related phenomenon sometimes called the "Ackermann effect" in forums, is not usually a sign of a malfunction, but rather a consequence of the vehicle's design, particularly when steering at full lock."

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
