I know this is a shot in the dark, but I just destroyed a wheel and tire. Anyone out there have one that I can buy/use.
So far no luck calling dealership and I'm about 12hrs from home.
With all the bots and spammers/scammers seen recently, I'm having a hard time taking this as a serious inquiry. Missing important info about tires that any 987 owner would know to include. So maybe you'd do better by filling-in the missing bits.
One would also presume you would want to match the wheel style unless you want your rig to look like a 1970s Vega.
Yes, I can see why you would think that.
I was desperate. I can't find any wheels that would fit my car that's why I was asking about any. I'm just hoping to make it home.
I just dipped my toe into the Porsche pool so I'm not very well versed on my car.
Found a place (OCD Wheels) that will try to straighten it.
One of the problems of not having a spare.
I also logged in from my mobile and apparently started a new account.
05 Boxster 19" wheels but if I can't get it straightened will put a 18 or 17 on with larger tire to try and get home.
In Tellico Plains, TN and home is WI
Don't drive with mismatched wheel or tire sizes on opposite sides. BTW, you do realize that 987s have staggered wheels (front are narrower rims/tires and different offsets than rear)? It is always a bad idea to mix tire brands/models. If you absolutely must mix, keep your speed down and do not drive aggressively.
If your old wheel is repairable that would be you best option. Good luck on your return trip
Thanks RSchwerer for bringing up some important safety issues. And I do really mean that not being sarcastic.
Yes I do know about the staggered setup.
I think that I was just a little rattled from everything and not thinking straight.
With help from lots of people I got my car to a place that will fix the wheel so that I can safety get home.
I'm glad you were able to find a wheel repair shop. Sid they confirm it was repairable? How bad was it bent?
When you get back home you might want to search for a used wheel at a car salvage dismantler that specializes in Porsches. Or check ebay.
It sounds like this is a car that you just purchased, if that is correct? Check around that bent wheel for other damage that might’ve been secreted from you.
He told me that he's sure that he can repair it so that I could safely drive home.
He didn't promise that it would look good but safety is more important.
Yes, when I get home I'll be looking for a new wheel or wheels!
Thanks.
I purchased the car right before winter. As I'm not planning on driving it in the snow and salt I immediately put it in storage.
The guy that I purchased it from kept up on all maintenance and fixed anything that he knew of.
I damaged the wheel by hitting a rock at good speed. Happily all that happened was a damaged wheel and tire.
