Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I set my posts 100" apart and it's great for the 996 and Cayenne.
Leading evidence: 'Set posts 100" apart and it's great' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check tomorrow' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

in my case, (20x20 two-car garage) one wall of the garage will be covered with a working bench and cabinets, and the other side will be used for large tools(mini mill, welders, engine stand, hoist..).

I still have a couple things to check tomorrow before making a final decision.

It will primarily be used for the Carrera, but could be used for a Cayenne too.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone have recommendations for width and fore-aft location for a two-post lift? I just received my MaxJax and am hoping to set it up this weekend. It will primarily be used for the Carrera, but could be used for a Cayenne too.
I have a MaxJax that I've set up for both the 996 and the Macan (sold). I can get you the measurements if you want (I spent a lot of time mocking it up), but I suggest you take the time to do it yourself.
there are many variables you want to consider. mostly with how you would like to utilize your garage space.
in my case, (20x20 two-car garage) one wall of the garage will be covered with a working bench and cabinets, and the other side will be used for large tools(mini mill, welders, engine stand, hoist..).
I wanted to make sure I could move around the lift from all directions, even with the garage door closed.
in my case, I didn't mount the lift in the center of the garage, as I wanted more space on one side, which allowed me a clear pass and working space for the engine stand.
it's not ideal, as it is hard to get in and out of the car (especially with the Macan).
i can post pictures later if it helps.
I bought one a few months ago, but have not yet installed it. I have a word document that has my notes, this is just a data dump. Post pictures and your measurements when finished.MaxJax Threads

Thanks for the replies. I spent today measuring and chalking the concrete. I think I've decided to go with 127" from the outside of the bases. After reading, I found lots of widths specified, but missing where they were measuring between. MaxJax says 135" from the outside of the bases is the max spacing. I still have a couple things to check tomorrow before making a final decision.
The center rear holes on mine are 122" apart. I believe this makes the column faces 100" apart.
This works well for my 911 & 955. Could be a bit further apart.
