Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi , 10Jx18 ET65 99636214003 I bought my 996 with some after market wheels on it. With the car came 3 wheels. 2 front ones and 1 rear. The missing wheel was damaged in an accident. I want to put the originals back on and I’m looking for a replacement. Any help on this would be super welcome. The three i have are being refurbed now. The guy said they are hollow spoke. Thank you in advance. In that photo , you can see the aftermarket ones currently on her.

POST 2Original post

The originals you're putting back on are the Carrera II wheels. Not hollow spokes but still much lighter than the BBS Sport Designs currently fitted. There are a few on ebay, may as well get one that needs a refurb and get it matched to the 3 you're already having done. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/188124661966?mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1

Thank you so much for the reply. Really appreciate it. Another question! The tyres are Pirelli p zero rosso. Is that something you would recommend I keep?

POST 5Original post

I went from p zero rossos to the conti sport contact 7 on my 996, I personally prefer the conti's

POST 6Original post

Standard rubber schrader valves which are shown on your pictures, hollow spoke wheels have 48mm steel valves, might be interested in your old ones, price and condition dependant

Without bombarding you too much.. what was the difference you felt between the two? Thank you for this very helpful. The wheels and tyres currently on are brand new. With no miles on them. The car is going to Hartech in 3 weeks for engine work. Once the car is back and I’ve got the OEM wheels back on , I’ll get in touch if I decide to sell.

The sc7 is a leap in tyre tech since the rossos were developed. Only use mine on road, no track work, but the sc7 gives sharper turn in with much stronger front end grip. Confidence in the wet with sc7 is in a differnt league, grip and braking are both objectively better.

Wow! That’s a really interesting. That’s great info. Bought the car. Had little time using it. Engine issues. Going for cylinder work etc. so, I’m a proper newbie with anything related to Porsche. This info is brilliant. Thank you

The Carrera II 18" wheels are the best wheels for the 996 in a 18" size, they are the lightest Hollow spoke wheels ended for 993 cars

Thank you. When I bought the car, they had changed them. Luckily I have the these in 18’s as I have seen the cost of a full set to buy! Thanks for the reply.

POST 12Original post

Carrera II are the lightest 996.2 OEM wheels. Technology Wheels (hollow spokes) were the lightest 18" OEM wheels on any 996, carried over from the 993, they were factory option 408 offered only on the early 996.1.
