Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Don't know if I'm going into quicksand, or if I got a good deal. I'd like some opinions. I "won" a 1999 C4 coupe on eBay -- 113K miles on chassis, 2 owners; new "crate" engine 30K miles ago (including, purportedly, all accessories), and rebuilt trans about 10K miles ago, with new clutch. Car was up for sale twice on eBay: the first time, no one bid on it; the second time, I was the only one bidding, and got it with the starting price of $17,900. Meanwhile, all the other 1999 coupes are going for around $22-24K on eBay, with numerous bidders. What is it that everyone in the world knows about this car that I don't know? Does this car have a reputation from somewhere else, or is it possible that this is a good deal? (I really don't believe in good deals....) Here's the link to the car on eBay. Porsche : 911 : eBay Motors (item 190367350817 end time Jan-28-10 21:11:40 PST) Appreciate anyone's inputs. Thanks.

POST 2Original post

link didn't work for me... If you like the car and feel you got a fair price, I wouldn't worry about it. The last thinkg you want to hear is if you overpaid (and I don't know if you did). Enjoy it!

Seems like a very good deal. Newish drivetrain makes it almost better than ones with lower mileage. -Wayne

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wayne and Racer, Thanks for your inputs. I have continued to follow Porsches on eBay as well as those on AutoTrader. Even the junkiest, "in need of slight repairs," are going for over $15K -- well, at least that is the advertised price. Maybe this guy is like me -- never get what you've put into the car, and always sell at a happy loss.
