Just listed, my bro in the car business forwarded the link and ran a carfax for me, also checked the original options thru the P-dealer here.

Don't know what to make of CarFax reporting the dealer checked the motor...Oh, wait, could be referring to a smog check/test.

Looking closely at the pics, I see a bunch of small rock chips around the hood emblem, one headlight washer cap is missing, carfax shows selling dealer checked the motor???

I'm interested if the exterior shows any signs of paint work, previous damage, interior wear, and running issues such as slipping out of 2nd gear, etc.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Don't go to any trouble, but if it's something you like doing and are in the area, I'm really interested in this TT at Irving BMW

Thanks, Nick
my impressions from the photos:
1. Nice PCM!
2. Nice custom satellite radio install
3. The climate control display looks a little messed up
4. Nice sports seats!
5. Quite reasonably priced considering a friend bought a 2001 Turbo for $42,000 about 7 months ago
Get it
Go for it Nick! That is an awesome price (I think). Does the talking about the 'list' price supposed to make buyers feel better when you see the 'value' price? Can't say I have seen that spiel yet...but it made me think what a good deal.
Looks like a good price for a 2004 Turbo Cab. Get a PPI from someone else, and a CPO would be nice, but if this is not a Porsche dealer than that is a problem.
Now for my editorial, it is silver with black, like almost every other Turbo Cab out there, not a color combo I would consider (I once had a 928 in this color) but I think I am in the minority.
Even if the car was at a P-car dealer, they cannot CPO that car due to the aftermarket radio.
Someone installed a Sat radio in a car with the MOST System? Doesn't that mean that the entire system (amps/wires/speakers/receiver) was yanked to make that work?
Otherwise a beautiful looking cab. Good luck.
That does seem like a deal. Ask them for a 3 day return window and get it checked out. They will do it I think. I bought mine from an independent and they gave me a month minus $500 deposit.
Thanks guys. Looking closely at the pics, I see a bunch of small rock chips around the hood emblem, one headlight washer cap is missing, carfax shows selling dealer checked the motor???
The sales guy claims car was a womans and she traded it because it was just too powerful. It took her years to decide this??? Car price was reduced to mid $40s from $70s???
Another thing, if you buy a car in Cali and register it out of state, you must still pay Cali sales tax and apply for a refund. This could be around $4k, get it back from a state that is bankrupt??? and having to pay it again in my state?
lots of ifs at this point.
Would like a seasoned Porshe owner to look at it and drive it to see if it's a worthy candidate to pursue.
TIA
Wow, lots of 'stories' and hoops to jump through, are there recrords from a dealer? I'm sure you can find another turbo, and maybe a better example that's easier to buy. GL. Anxious to follow your progress.
Rock chips doesn't bother me.
Missing washer cap bothers me.

You'll get your sales tax money back in CA IOUs. Nearly as good as Greece's!
Car may be alright but I'd not buy it long distance without having it thoroughly checked out by impartial expert probably at Porsche dealer.
Even then.... I'm old school. I like to see, touch, smell, listen, and then test drive a car before I buy it.
Sincerely,
Macster.
Looked at it last night, body is real clean no dings that I could find, not even on the hood. Interior was in good shape. The roof had a bunch of very dark spots where the roof folds up, I don’t know if that is normal for a cab. Started it, sounded good but did not drive it.
IIRC, I thought if you buy a car in California and have it transported out of state, that you do not pay CA sales tax. You do pay if you drive it off the lot. If the sales tax & (questionable) refund is an issue then you may want to confirm my info. Someone here probably knows.
I believe this is correct. I have had a few friends purchase cars here that I looked at, they were shipped out of state, no CA sales tax was paid.
This car seems like a steal at $46k
Hey Nick, that does look nice, although I'm not a huge 911 Cab fan.
I guess the top is less of a concern than the mechanicals.
I'm in Irvine, so that would also give me an excuse to swing by, they're a good dealer.
Well, better than most drug dealers at least.
There are a couple places nearby that could run a PPI, let me know if you need contact info....
Pass Nick, too many problems and not treated very well (cosmetics). Too many things not adding up. I e-mailed ya directly with lots of pics. This car needs work and I don't think was well cared for. I've never felt a notchier short shifter or a lighter pressure clutch (no slip though). Cosmetics on this car are rough both inside and out. Top has wear that's going to need attention (soon) but a brand new glass window in the rear with the label still on it?? One, lone worn out owners manual with no carrier and one lone key. Missing headlight plug, missing plugs on the inside, scratches in and out, broken lower/rear aero plastic, and hideous Pioneer aftermarket install.
Dan
I bought an Audi A6 4.2 in Santa Barbara and had it shipped back to Colorado. If you don't take delivery of the car in the state, you don't have to pay Ca. sales tax or registration. After Fedex dropped the car off at my front door, I had to pay Colorado sales tax and registration when I went to register the car.
Thanks a million Dan!
Yes, I'll pass on this one. The price was right, but after selling a pristine, no issue '99, I couldn't accept a several year newer car with all these flaws at any price.
Thanks to those that were willing to help out with this project doing a preliminary look over of this car. I'm no longer interested as it didn't meet my expectations.
