Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause

I don't have that problem on my 996 but on our Disco Sport we sometimes get spurious cold readings when the A/C has been cranked down to very cold and has been working hard to get the car cool which I think is due to condensation forming and affecting the external temp probe/sensor.

Suggestion

Although it could also be worth checking for leaks from the A/C that could be causing the probe (or part thereof) to be cooled by something it shouldn't be.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello so today is the warmest day of the year so far , but my car reckons it’s in Siberia ! OBC outside temperature reading was -21 ! When I reversed it back into the garage it adjusted itself to a more seasonal -12.5 , I suppose i need a new probe ? Thanks 75 PNO

Yes, it sounds like it. Although it could also be worth checking for leaks from the A/C that could be causing the probe (or part thereof) to be cooled by something it shouldn't be. I don't have that problem on my 996 but on our Disco Sport we sometimes get spurious cold readings when the A/C has been cranked down to very cold and has been working hard to get the car cool which I think is due to condensation forming and affecting the external temp probe/sensor. Someone much more technically competent than me will be able to point you in the best direction though I'm sure...
