door/bass L & R channels - feed the door woofers - obviously heavier guage wire (2 speakers - I ran these together)

The only thing that is not in the trunk is the subwoofer line level input, which is behind the head unit, however, I ran a wire from the woofer in to the trunk & bypass the small amp that was mounted on the sub box.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
Just had a
Pioneer
Avic Z110Bt installed in my 2007 997 Coupe (with
Bose
).
What they did was just bypass the
Bose
main amp and ran the stock
Bose speakers
through the
Pioneer
amp. With the sub, they ran line level out of the
Pioneer
into the
Bose
sub amp (so I have control over that amp separately).
No fancy rewiring, no resistors needed, no $650.00 fiber optic interface piece.
And, the piece de resistance is....It sounds better than with the
Bose amp
through the
PCM
2.1. I mean, MUCH better!
Anyways, pictures to follow at some point. I'm working out a minor bezel issue with Eurospeed. They are sending me a new bezel this week, hopefully and then I will shoot pictures of the install (when its perfect).
Oh, btw, I now have complete Nav, bluetooth,
ipod
and XM for a little over$2,000.00 completely installed. And, that's with touchscreen. Also, was able to get a great jpg of the
Porsche
crest logo for my splash screen. Very cool! The 7" screen just blows away the
PCM
2.1 screen by a long shot.
Steve
PS: I want to give a very special shout out to Loi at Euromotorspeed. He went out of his way to give me great customer service. Please give him business! (the bezel and
Bose
wiring harness came from him).

Yep did the same for my 09 Boxster with an AVIC 910 BT back in August. Too bad I no longer have the car and my 09 997s has factory PCM 3.0 which is a different beast. Not as big as the 7" AVIC 1100 BT but does the trick just as well. Post pics. Sounds like a winner!

Before I bought my 2007 997, I looked at a 2009 Cayman with all the PCM gadgets...Bluetooth, XM, Navi and iPod integration. It was very nice, but nothing compared to an aftermarket unit like the Pioneer or Kenwood.
Steve
Do you have a link for Euromotorspeed or another place to get a grey bezeli like that? As their webstore seems to be closed.
I think I've decided to skip trying to replace my
CDR24
with a
PCM
2.1+Nav, as for much less $, I can get an NICE aftermarket system with MUCH more functionality built in.
The bezel on
Suncoast
says black.
Double DIN Radio Trim (for aftermarket radio):Suncoast Automotive Porsche, Audi, & VW
My '06 Cayman has the grey plastic.
Yeah, but why would you want to spend $650.00 on an adaptor that interfaces with an inferior sounding amp? Just bypass it all together, save yourself all that money and have a better sounding system...
Well b/c things seemed so complicated.
I was looking for a simple install that I could do myself!
That I'd understand what was going on.
And I think the
BOSE system
(speakers / amp) sounds good already.
Pay someone to do the wiring correctly and you will spend less than the $650.00 for the interface piece. And, it will sound better. Its a win-win!
Good luck,
Steve
So how many of the
Bose speakers
did they wire (outside the sub) and which ones? Also, did they wire them in serial - as the
Bose speakers
are 2 ohm and the
pioneer
amp is 4 ohm?
They wired all of them (except the center channel, I believe). I have no idea how they ran the wires. I do believe they just followed the
Bose
wiring scheme as they didnt rewire anything and used Euromotorspeeds wiring block (which plugs right into the
Bose
molex plug).
They tested the speakers and said that they metered higher than 2 ohms and they did not even use resistors. I believe the 2 ohm myth is just that, a myth.
Hey everyone. I have a 2004
911
c4s. I have found a aftermarket navi indash system for my car. Everything will work but, I just don't know what plug I need to convert my
bose amplifier
to work. I seen on here the postings about getting the fiber optic cable....yeah, not worth 650. Is this cable required for the 996 model or just the 997? If not, what cable do I need? Thank you
You'll need to run 2-3 sets of RCA cables to the trunk & replace the
Bose amp
with a 5-6+ channel amp.
Look around a lot of people have done this. Also see the link in my sig, for my install.
I will read your guide now. how can i find a front plate? Everywhere I look no one has them. Also will my install be the same as yours? I know taking the deck out and all that is different but, will I need to do all the same wiring?
Ebay store:
http://stores.ebay.com/Euro-Motorspeed
Part(s) you need:
PORSCHE 997 CARRERA DOUBLE DIN INSTALLATION KIT -BOSE - eBay (item 320517573269 end time Dec-10-10 19:05:33 PST)
Comes with a pretty good guide.
The faceplate, parts & all are pretty much identical from Boxster & Cayman to 911's. The difference is in the years.
basically though, many of the interior & electronics parts are the same for:
987.1 = 997.1
986 = 996
I believe the colors for the different speakers are different, but the guide should tell you everything you need to know. I think there was a difference as with the 997's you could tap the reverse light internally under the seat, instead of going all the way to the tail light. You can tell which 2 pairs of speakers go to the door woofers, as they're a much heavier guage.
However, I figured since I had to run wires from the read of the car, while back there I might as well put a back up camera in there.
Read my guide, I linked to some other guids / references one of which was by Trillionaire / Euromotorspeed... ie: the person on ebay selling these kits.
your setup looks amazing!!!! And your write up is a HUGE help! I am going to go forward with doing this. I have done a lot of head units in cars...just not
Porsche
. I have done alpine screens witch have a lot of front to back wiring like this does. I just want to make sure I know exactly how things go before I jump into this mess. All the speaker wires run into the trunk? So I don't have to strip off door panels and everything to re wire the adapter? How long was this project?
The guide(s) tell you all that you need to know. I have pictures of the
BOSE amp
adapter & details of how I wired it!!!
Pay Attention grasshopper!
In the trunk: (9 speakers, 7 channels)
front L & R channels - which feed the dash & small door speaker (4 speakers - 2 per channel)
door/bass L & R channels - feed the door woofers - obviously heavier guage wire (2 speakers - I ran these together)
rear L & R channels - which feed the rear A-pilar speakers (2 speakers)
center channel - dash center speaker ( 1 speaker - I did not use / connect)
The only thing that is not in the trunk is the subwoofer line level input, which is behind the head unit, however, I ran a wire from the woofer in to the trunk & bypass the small amp that was mounted on the sub box.
I was thinking of doing exactly that with the rear subs. I just don't want to go over rms on the speakers. I am pulling out all my interior in two weeks and I am doing all alcantara ultra sued. So I will have the dash and panels and everything out. Perfect time to do the navi unit. I will have all open space to do it. It's winter time here in Rhode Island. The car is put away and I want to get a lot done like screen. I would start sooner but I just ordered a d2 track suspension and 808 monoblock 19 inch rims. So thats
next
weeks project!
so I ended up buying the
Kenwood
Dnx7160. Comes with a lot of good features. Plus I added in the reverse camera. You had a good point. Might as well do it while your already back there. I was wondering on a amp. If I put two speakers to the headunit and buy a 4 channel amp and do the two subs and two door speakers to just the amp. I just dont know what the amp and omhs are for the
bose system
. Thanks a lot for your help on this. I really appreciate it!
Why not get a 6 channel amp ? Amp's generally have better sound quality, IF you wire up everything correctly.
Get the
JL Audio XD600/6 - fits where the old Bose amp was or you can put in where the Nav-DVD & CD changer normally go.
It has just the right amount of power & channels.

I will more than likely go with the six channel. I was just thinking of other ways to do it. I just hate to spend 350 on a amplifier. I will end up doing it in the end. I ordered the face plate and kit today. That will be in on Monday.
