Suggestion

I'm on the second set of rears and still run 44 as I'll replace all four tires when the fronts go in another 10K or so, but if you're looking to maximize treadwear on the rears my experience is 44 is too high.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have no sticker in my door jamb and no manual. I herd 40 - 44 psi. Can someone tell me what the correct tire pressure is for: 18" 225/40 front 265/35 rears. Thanks

POST 4Original post

36/44 is a good strarting point as rec'd by Porssche. On the track I run 39 hot all the way around. On the street I run 38/42.

POST 5Original post

Track pressure is definately different than street. See the post titled: "Warning: P Zero Corsa tire pressure". I now run 30 lbs on all four tires once hot, in hot weather, and 32 lbs once hot, in cooler weather with great results for MY car and MY tires. Yours will varry.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll go out right now take a little out of the fronts and put a little in the rear. Thanks again for the help.

POST 7Original post

I ran 36/44 as recommended on my 18s (285 rears), and the fronts wore perfectly while the rears exhibited wear as if over inflated. I'm on the second set of rears and still run 44 as I'll replace all four tires when the fronts go in another 10K or so, but if you're looking to maximize treadwear on the rears my experience is 44 is too high.

POST 9Original post

I totally agree with you that 44 in the rear is too high. I have gotten excessive wear in the center of my rear tires when I ran tham at 44 psi. I am currently running 34/40 and have even experimented with 38 psi in the rear tires.

POST 10Original post

what helps avoid understeer on the track....harder in front so that the rear has more grip??

POST 11Original post
