Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Recently I blew my Impreza engine because of a faulty MAF (Main AirFlow) sensor. The sensor gave a low voltage, so the ECU sees less air than actually comes in, so the ECU provides less fuel, result is a lean mixture, result is knock, result is a hole in piston (turbo engines are very sensitive to knock and air/fuel mixture) Subaru says the K&N 57i (cone style) filter is the reason why the MAF failed. Oil from the filter polluted the MAF sensor. No warrenty whatsoever. My BoxsterS is equipped with a K&N replacement filter, fitted by the dealer. He wouldn't fit a open style (57i) filter / induction kit in the warrenty period. I'm a bit worried now, any suggestions / experiences ? Mark.

Wow, I would get it in writing from your dealer that any engine failures resulting from the use of the installed filter will be covered by Porsche warranty. If not, I would take the filter out until your existing warranty expires. my 2 cents
