Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Pelican Parts: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I don't believe RMS issues were not resolved by '03, or 04 or 05..

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm considering the purchase of a 996 c4s as a daily driver (102 parkway miles per day) and wanted to know if there is a thread or link to a reliable buyers guide that you can recommend. I am looking at 03 or 04 and if I can afford it, 05 models to avoid potential RMS issues. Anything else I should be looking for. I will definately get a PPI but it is helpful to have your combined experience behind me. I purchased my 911 SC off this board and have been extremely happy...with the car and continued advice given here. Thank you. Patrick

POST 2Original post

check rennlist.com and or renntech.org I just did I could not come up with a buyers guide per say, but there is a LOT of 996 info in either site. You need to join for ~$15 - well worth it. If you want to do a search and also have access to all of the site on renntech. I'm not sure how far you can go on rennlist try it.

POST 3Original post

Check a recent back issue of Excellence magazine. They had a buyers guide for the 996.

POST 4Original post

Has somebody figured out which issue it was? Some other guys out there are wondering.

I don't believe RMS issues were not resolved by '03, or 04 or 05.. They may be reduced, but not cured.

POST 6Original post

Porsche never completely solved the RMS issue in the M96/97 motors until they changed over to the new direct injection motor. The 996/997 Excellence magazine market update is in the September 2009 edition.
