Once I get those installed I will start thinking of which coil overs I will go with.
Leading evidence: 'Install i will start thinking of' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install i will start thinking of' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. I ask because I have brand new stock links, Feal Coilovers, and as you know I just replaced all my control arms with the 991 PASM units.

I replaced my struts with Feal coilovers and liked the difference.(Also drop links in front)

I replaced all the worn parts that have rubber bushings (LCAs, camber arms, drop links, strut mounts) with Elephant Racing adjustable parts.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

As the title asks. I am getting ready to refresh the suspension on my 2003 Carrera coupe. It has 57K miles on the clock and the shocks are terrible. I want to do the job in sections as opposed to having the car out of service for a few weeks. It is a daily driver and will not be tracked. Recommendations appreciated in advance.
I know it sounds silly but if youre going to do sections, probably start with parts that are no longer serviceable or almost there. You can get LCAs, end links, tie rod ends and sway bar bushings done in one day.
Evo maybe better to gather all the parts first then install in stages
to completely change out the suspension shouldn’t take more then 2 days for a competent shop
stock or oem parts will renew your cars ride
In the strut assembly you'll want to replace the struts/shocks, top mounts, and bump stops. Coil springs can be reused unless they are damaged.
You'll also want to replace all the control arms. There are two per side + tie rods in the front, and 4 per side + tie rods in the back. FCP euro has kits.
Then there are also the front and rear stabilizer bar drop links and bushings.
Doing it in stages, hmm. I think I'd do the struts in one swoop. Then the rest of the suspension bits can be done per axle, front axle one stage and back axle another stage. It will help to have all the parts on hand before you start, of course.
All that said, there will inevitably be the bolt or nut or little plastic clip that fails and blows your careful plan all to pieces. Because old Porsche.
With 57k miles pretty good chance all you need to do is add a set of feal coilovers. If anything else is worn, you can replace at a later time. Saves you quite a bit of money since you are driving around town and not tracking it.
I replaced all the worn parts that have rubber bushings (LCAs, camber arms, drop links, strut mounts) with Elephant Racing adjustable parts. Did it all in an afternoon.
I did all the arms at the same time on my car, as well as the outer tie rod ends and for the cost vs the difference it made to the handling of the car, I'd recommend going this route. You'll end up saving on the alignment anyway. I went with OE parts rather than genuine, and it was pretty manageable.
It is easiest to do all at 1 time in the front.
The rear is easier to do partially.
I replaced my struts with Feal coilovers and liked the difference.(Also drop links in front)
Then I replaced Lower Control Arms, Control Arm Links and sway bar bushings in front (and sway bar bushinsg in the rear) and the difference was shocking.
You'll be shocked at the difference once changed and aligned.
Im in the replace it all at one time camp. To replace the struts, you need to undo most of the other things. Agreed that a competent shop could do it in a day.
I did mine in pieces, but there was no one thing that really changed it. All of the rubber bits need to be changed. Do it once and forget it.
As for which springs or shocks, go with Feals or Ohlins. You can set the ride height, you can set the shock response. As you grow with the car it will already have the flexibility to change with you. I put the Ohlins on mine. I have 2 settings: me in the car alone(12/8 f/r) and wife in the car with me(15/10)
many choices ahead, experiment at will, then report back!
I did decide to start with Feal 441 coil overs and front drop links as TexSquirrel did. I can do the work with no problem but being 73 years old with a wonky back means I need to pace myself. Which brand drop links should I look for? Thanks all for the input so far.
Tex, can you explain why you recommend the upgraded links over the stock units? I am just curious how much difference those would make over just spending the money on getting upgraded bars? Seems to me the links wouldn't add very much at all, since the bars is what transfers the opposite side pressure to control the vehicle in cornering. I ask because I have brand new stock links, Feal Coilovers, and as you know I just replaced all my control arms with the 991 PASM units. I also have the EPS upgraded poly bushed tuning folks coming for both and rear. I just fear spending $500-600 for links that won't make the difference that a set of $600-800 sways bars would. I am trying to improve my ride without going too far and making it too much.
You should get rid of these asap. They are a poor design and known to fracture. The OEM tuning forks are a monoball design and there is little improvement possible without going to adjustable length tuning forks.
The drop links I used(SPL PRO) are adjustable.

They allow for proper adjustment to prevent preload on sway bars when the vehicle is lowered.
Only yesterday I ordered control arms, sway bar bushings and drop links for both front and rear. Once I get those installed I will start thinking of which coil overs I will go with. I am looking for a pleasant riding strut/shock suitable for daily driving on crappy roads. No track, autoX etc. The FEALS look like a nice option as are the Bilstein B6 with my stock springs. Either way I will change out the inner and outer tie rod ends at the same time as the struts/shocks.
