Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Is there a way to re-program the computer to add a phone submenu so I can access the phonebook, last number dialed, etc., using the selection lever on the left side of the steering wheel (i.e., the one used to access the Sport Chrono timer, TPMS, etc.?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I bought a used MY 2007 997.1 Carrera 4 in which the OEM Porsche Phone module was added to the car after original purchase. The phone works great through the PCM display. My only complaint is that the "on-board" display under the tachometer does not have a submenu for the telephone, as it was not added to the car at the factory. Is there a way to re-program the computer to add a phone submenu so I can access the phonebook, last number dialed, etc., using the selection lever on the left side of the steering wheel (i.e., the one used to access the Sport Chrono timer, TPMS, etc.? The main tech at my local Porsche dealership is on an extended vacation and neither the service manager or other tech have a clue.

POST 2Original post

I got an answer to my question from a Porsche Tech working at "answer.com". Both the PCM and the on-board computer have to be reprogrammed in order to access the phone functions. This is also true of the on-board navgation instructions. I went to Flemington Porsche and "Tommy D." reprogrammed the PCM and on-board computer for me at no-charge. It pays to throw the dealer a bone once in a while for situations like this!
