Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone. I have a question about the color of the rear "Carrera" badge on the 996, specifically the colors. My car is a MY 2000 C2 in Rainforest Green Metallic, and the Carrera badge is black. I think the silver version of the badge might look better on the green color, but I can't tell if it would have been an option on a green car in 2000. Does anyone know? I have seen silver badges on green turbos, C4s, and C4Ss, but never a C2. Everything else on the car is stock and I'd like to keep the car as original as possible. Thanks for any help/information!
I used to own an early C2 that came without the rear script so I spent a bit of time researching the differences between the black and silver options. What I found out was the "rally black" script was factory on all the 996.1 & 996.2 C2 (M338) Carrera's. The "silver" script was factory on the 996.1 C4 & 996.2 C4S (M339) Carrera's. I don't know why Porsche opted to do it this way, but your 2000 C2 would have been black from the factory. That said, many owners have changed the scripts over the years to suit their personal tastes. I don't think it detracts from the car as they are easily interchanged.
That is super helpful, thank you. I'm going to swap out the black for silver but keep the black in case I ever want to put it back. In the mean time it will make for some nice desk/wall art.
I doubt you’ll be able to reuse the old badge once removed. Use caution with what chemicals you use removing the old adhesive. The clear coat can be damaged pretty easily.
Use dental floss to remove the original script. Clean patiently with Goof Off, then wipe thoroughly clean. Devise a tape or overlay system for accurate placement.
I did that also on my '02C2. I was disappointed that no one could see the black script on my Lapis car! The silver script looks great (though the change was after this pic was taken)!
