Does anyone know ,Is it possible to fit the Gen 2 997 LED front side lights to a Gen 1 997, and if so is it a simple plug in and out or are there any other electronic implications/requirements ?
Anyone any idea what these retail at from porsche ?
This topic has been discussed in the Cayman/Boxter forum, the conclusion is you cannot fit Gen II LED type because the voltage and codings are different.
Thanks, I thought that might be the case , oh well must keep saving for a Gen II.

Chartman69,
It can be done. We can get you a kit but there is alot of electrical harness/ control unit work that must be done. The 997-2 use's the Siemens Control Unit and the 997 uses the Bosch unit so the LED's are specific to the Siemen's unit so it is a bit tricky but we can do it. I will get you an offer but generally the kit is sold in Germany as a front and rear LED kit for 05-08 997's.
Thanks,
Rhonda
Chartman69,
As we know the shape of the LED sidemarker on the 997-2 is different from the 997. See picture's below for reference. So here is where it get's tricky. You can't simply put a front bumper on from a 997-2 onto a 997 as they mount up differently.
So the solution that we sell is a custom bumper to fit on the 997 with the side marker light surrounds from a 997-2. Since you need to make a new bumper, we sell the GT3 bumper with the 997-2 LED's. See below.
Now to the electronic's, with this bumper we sell a new harness to run day time running lights with LED's on the Bosch unit.
The price is $ 3,295.00 for the bumper and the harness. The LED's are sold separately and are $ 311.00 each.
We also sell a rear kit with the matching GT3 bumper with the 997-2 LED's. Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks,
Rhonda
I was thinking something on these lines, definitely not plug & play, but cheaper than saving for a new 997-2
Capercat,
Not cheap, but certainly alot cheaper than a new 997-2 your right!
In combination with the rear GT3 bumper with the 997-2 rear lights, the 997 really look's sharp...
Thanks,
Rhonda
