Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hi! Just got myself a 2006 997S with the sport chrono package and manual gear box. I love it! What are the "most do" mods that I should start with? I am after slightly more power and reduced lap times on track.

POST 2Original post

Do 997's have that simple intake plug mod that 996's had? I know that was good for some free HP!

POST 3Original post

I found this Fabspeed cold intake kit with a BMC F1 997 air filter. FABSPEED: Porsche 997, Porsche 997S, Porsche 997 GT3 Experience with this? Better options? They claim 10+ HP and show it in a dyno chart. Is that realistic?

POST 4Original post

There are a bunch (a big bunch) of threads on this topic across p-car forums. The consensus seems to be: x51 headers 200 cell cats evoms cold air intake ECU software upgrade Conservatively, this should add 25hp (some will gain 35 - whatever) and is pretty much the limit of what can be done to a .1 3.8 unless you go with a supercharger. This info is second hand. I've swapped mufflers and so don't want to swap cats due to the fear of excessive noise. The mufflers have the advantage of taking 25 lbs off the rear and. Oh, and they sound really cool. I'll someday swap for the x51's for a modest increase.

POST 5Original post

For better times at track, I would suggest starting with investing in extra track seat time and suspension work. A track or track/street compromise alignment is first thing needed - once you are going faster in corners you need to get enough negative camber in the front not to wreck the outside edges of your tires and get more grip in the corners. You have to go to GT3 adjustable front control arms - with stock control arms you can only get -1 degree camber or less, which isn't negative enough. Next up is some sticky tires - for street and track without another set of wheels try Mich Sport Cups or Toyo R888's. Next up is a set of beefier sway bars. The improvement in handling from these mods will give you the confidence to go much faster through the corners. After that a full suspension with Motons or JRZ's, etc. would help you get even faster lap times but starts to compromise street comfort. Once you are using more of the power you already have through the corners, go for the power mods IMHO.
