The sound has changed dramatically with the Milltek Cups fitted and the new Michelin Pilot Sports have made the car more planted.

I’m about to change the panel filter on my C4s, would I be best going for genuine Porsche or has anyone had good results with any other make.

Im not expecting DSG performance but a quicker change than standard.

I'm sure I have seen others using Mercedes shift paddles.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good afternoon
I’m about to change the panel filter on my C4s, would I be best going for genuine Porsche or has anyone had good results with any other make.
Having just fitted my Milltek cup exhaust I would like to take advantage of a better airflow filter without going down the cold intake route.
I put a Forge intake on my R32 with excellent results combined with a remap, but want to keep the C4s completely standard.
Stealth racing did the remap on my R32 with fantastic results, not surprising they have a superb reputation. So I rang the owner Vince about writing a map for my C4s, which he is happy to do for me.
But would it be worth it for a few BHP extra??
When I had the Golf done they also remapped my DSG to match the map.
The Tiptronic gearbox on the Porsche is very sluggish on changing and is the only thing I’m not enamoured with on my car.
So my other question is, can the tip box be mapped for a faster experience ??
Im not expecting DSG performance but a quicker change than standard.
Or am I dreaming considering the age of the car??
Any input would be greatly appreciated as I’m so so happy with this wonderful car apart from this very small gripe.
Many thanks
Simon
From what I have read on forums there is very little to be achieved with off the shelf mods on these engines vs cost. Porsche basically got it right on development. In most cases there is little gain and some mods are detrimental to performance. Porsche gain performance by increasing the cc - in my view that is the route to take, so you may as well invest in later models. You will achieve more by good tyres, suspension and weight.
Not know much about the tip, but believe it maps its performance on your driving style. Is the tip gearbox due or had a service?
Seconded on the power. From the reading I have done, unless you get a bigger engine (Hartech for example, making it a 3.7) the only way to get more power from the engine was to have the X50 pack (as an option) Air filters make zero difference Im led to believe, maybe a placebo sound difference, but no power gain. Nothing much anyone can do, to add anything of note
Happy to be proved wrong
Have no knowledge of the Tip query though
Thanks for your reply guys
I will just stick to a standard filter in that case!!
I took the car out on Sunday evening and I’m getting used to the tip keeping it on the boil.
The sound has changed dramatically with the Milltek Cups fitted and the new Michelin Pilot Sports have made the car more planted.
So all in all I’m actually enjoying the car far more than my previous 997 c2s coupe and cabriolet.
It may have something to do with actually owning this one, instead of the finance company ??
Re "keeping tiptronic on the boil" have you thought of converting the shift mechanism to paddles?
This refers
to an expensive USA product.
I'm sure I have seen others using Mercedes shift paddles.
Worth a look?
